Objectives:Working with a team and given a CFM56-7B engine, tooling, the NDT manual, and the aircraft maintenance manual, thestudent will perform the maintenance practices for:...indexing the N1 system for the CFM56-7B engine. ( 4.E.d )...indexing the N2 system for the CFM56-7B engine. ( 4.E.d )...the scheduled borescope inspection on the fan blades, platforms and OGV's, then map selected components. ( 4.E.d )...the unscheduled borescope inspection on the fan booster and map selected components. FAN BLADE INSPECTION

Maintenance Practices (4.E.d)

Scheduled inspectionPerform a visual inspection on the 24 fan blades andplatforms for a scheduled inspection using the AMM.Check the condition of the fan blades and the bladeplatforms, record damage if found on the fan bladerecording map.

Index the N1 system for the CFM56-7B engine and mapthe:

- fan blade position which has the defect- defect type on the fan blade- size of the defect- evaluate the defect limits using the AMM- is the defect condition under a cycle limitation or not- is the engine with the defects airworthy- do the same for the platforms.

Note: If defects were found on the fan blades, or if theengine experienced an abnormal operating problem, thenan unscheduled inspection is necessary.
