19 full-time and 35-40 adjunct instructors
10 computer labs, 2 design labs, “Our Place” lab & 3-4 classrooms
CIS serves almost 2,000 students per year.
ACC, BUS and ECO are also popular electives for College Transfer and other Voc/Tech programs.
Business Department Planning
Within the Business Department, planning is an on-going dialog rather than a one time event.
Each lead instructor prepares unit plan and discusses with department chair and other affected planning units.
Plan is then entered into SPOL.

• Plan and execute move to North Campus.• Study initiation of International Business, E-commerce and other concentrations.
• Continue expanding Internet offerings.• Convert CIS instruction to Windows and Office 2000.
• Strengthen Co-op Program.• Assist in revising Request for Proficiency process.

Programs in Allied Health typically have 100% pass rate on board examinations
Nursing expansion will result in day, afternoon and evening sections. Enrollment will triple.
Early Childhood enrollment figure does not include over 100 students acquiring early childhood credentials each year.

The Allied Health Department adopts the CFCC Goals that are pertinent to their programs as their overall planning goals. Planning starts at unit level and is finalized through discussion with Department Chair.

Cosmetology will add Huskins classes for qualified high school students on our campus this year.

Departmental planning meeting at the beginning of each semester. - Aligning departmental objectives with college objectives. Wide scope of planning units (Cosmetology to BLET) makes departmental planning difficult.

Research Vessel “Dan Moore” participated in recovery of artifacts from the sunken shipwreck thought to be the “Queen Anne’s Revenge” - Blackbeard’s pirate ship. R/V MARTECH invited to 2001 hydrographic conference to demonstrate state of art geophysical survey instrumentation.

Five Year Equipment Plan Plans approved by Department Chair All then entered in SPOL system

Start Marine Propulsion diploma program (on hold due to budget situation).
Carpentry students built the classroom/office building for Landscape Gardening. To be located on North campus site summer 2001.
Completed the Truck Body paint and repair facility in cooperation with Pender County Schools. First year full operation starts fall 2001.
Hold second annual CFCC Wooden Boat Show… August 2001.
Voc/Tech - Summary
1417 students enrolled in Voc/Tech Programs.
Programs stay current in rapidly changing fields.
Classes/ programs taught at 11 locations
in 3 counties. Students are getting
excellent jobs!
