Projects working as a Mechanical Engineer temp at BMT SMS.
BMT SMS provides integrity and
structural monitoring, performance
prediction, and verification for a variety
of marine and offshore floating
platforms. In addition to the
instrumentation needed for each
application, BMT SMS designs custom
housings and fixtures for equipment
operating both above and below the
waterline. As a mechanical engineer
temp, I worked with fellow engineers
to create 3D solid models for various
tension monitoring subsystems and
produced the necessary technical
reports and documentation for client
review.
After graduating from the University of California, Davis , I found myself in a unique position to fulfill a (young but passionate) lifelong dream. Starting my own company was something I had not planned on doing for quite some time, but a perfect storm of right circumstances arose and in February 2014, I began laying the foundation that transformed a dream into a reality. Brick by brick, I did everything from securing permits to designing logos. Four months later, after a myriad of CAD sketches were created and many choice words angrily spewed at HTML coding, those bricks turned into…well…BRICKH3D: a unique, customer design-driven 3D printing experience. The entire process was a frustrating, empowering, challenging, incredibly educational crash course in all facets of a business, and I continue to enjoy every bit of it.
“Established in February 2014,
BRICKH3D (pronounced, “brickhead”)
brings the power of customization
right to your couch, desktop, lap, bed,
toilet, roof, spaceship, or wherever an
interwebs machine can be taken! Hop
on the 3D printing train and create
products tailored to you with
customized engraving, nifty logo
designs, and a cornucopia of colors-
whatever floats your wifi-enabled boat.
Make it your own and print
YOUniquely!”

Projects completed as a Student Assistant at the UC Davis Engineering Fabrication Lab. In addition to completing projects assigned by the lab’s supervisors, I also provided instructional support to students, faculty and staff of the College of Engineering as they worked on projects for classes, independent study, research, and student design competition clubs.
