Certiport's Teacher of the Month: David Rowland

“Back to school” season has officially given way to just “school” season.

Although fall is arguably one of the best seasons (who doesn’t love cider and

sweaters?), it can be hard to stay motivated. The days are shorter, school is

officially back in the routine, and those challenging students are back in your

classroom.

blog. We’ll be working to discover and highlight the amazing work done by our

teachers across the country.

MOS Certification Got Me a Job at 15: The Story Continues

Each year, Certiport hosts the MOS U.S. National Championship, honoring

students who achieved the highest scores in their state on their Microsoft

Office Specialist exams. It’s no surprise that these students go on to do

amazing things, both educationally and professionally.

We shared Ashley Master’s story back in 2017, but her story certainly didn’t

end there. In 2017, Ashley was a student at Kalama Mid-Senior High School in

Washington state. She was working at a large, national construction company

called Pacific Tech Construction, Inc as an administrative assistant, a full-time

job she landed at just 15.

We caught up with Ashley to find out what’s changed in the last two years. See

Creating a Champion Culture

One question we get consistently from teachers: How can I make sure my

students qualify for the MOS Championship? It’s a loaded question, but we’re

hoping our guest author can break it down a bit for you. Marty Roettgen is a

retired teacher, and one who enabled dozens of students to compete in the MOS

Championship. We had to ask Marty, “How did you create a class of

champions?” Check out her secret sauce here.

Don’t Forget to Request Your Language for the 2020

Competitions!

It may seem early, but we’re already preparing for the 2020 MOS and ACA

World Championships! An important part of this is the localization of the MOS

and ACA competition exams, which means exam localizations must be

requested as soon as possible.

Please email Hannah Crepeau (hannah.davis@pearson.com) with the

following information:

1. How many students you are bringing to the MOS and ACA competition

2. Which exams need to be localized into which languages (Remember,

the exams for MOS are the 2016 or 2019 versions for the 2020 MOS World

Championship.)

Exams requested after January 31, 2020 will not be available at the

competition. For exams you request and do not use at the event,
