Stephanie is a Certified Records Analyst (CRA) and experienced records management professional who has been managing complex Record Retention Programs for fifteen years. Stephanie has been employed with PepsiCo, Inc. since 2012, and manages the Records Management Program at PepsiCo. Before PepsiCo, Stephanie was the Corporate Records Manager for Dean Foods Company and the Corporate Records Manager for Blockbuster Inc.

Stephanie has a Masters Degree from Texas Christian University (2003); a Bachelors of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University (2000) and she is a Certified Paralegal with Course Study and Completion from Southern Methodist University (2012). Stephanie is a CRA (Certified Records Analyst) and a CRM (Certified Records Manager) candidate currently pursuing her CRM certification. Stephanie has also earned her ERMs (Electronic Records Management Specialist) designation through AIIM International, and is the process of completing her case study to earn her ERMm (Electronic Records Management Master) designation.

Stephanie has been a member of ARMA International and the Dallas Chapter since 2006. Stephanie serves as the current Vice President of Seminars for the ARMA Dallas Chapter Board. She was elected to the Chapter Board as the VP of Public Relations in 2013. In October 2014 at the ARMA International Conference hosted in San Diego, CA, Stephanie was awarded with the ARMA International Chapter Leader of the Year Award.

Stephanie was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and currently resides in Rockwall, Texas. She has been married to Jason since 2006 and they have a nine-year-old son named Christopher. Stephanie is a lifelong Chicago Cubs Fan, and was ecstatic when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. She loves music, and her favorite rock band is the Toadies out of Ft. Worth, Texas.

WHAT IS THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED RECORDS MANAGERS (ICRM)?

❖ An international certifying organization of and for professional records and information managers.

❖ Incorporated in 1975

❖ A standard by which persons involved in records and information management could be measured, accredited and recognized according to criteria of experience and capability established by their peers.

❖ Primary mission: to develop and administer the professional certification of Records and Information Managers including the relevant examinations and certification maintenance program.

❖ You must pass parts 1-5 before applying to take the part 6 written examination.

STEP 1: BECOMING A CRA/CRM CANDIDATE

Applying for the Examinations:

❖ Prospective Candidates must complete and submit an ONLINE application with supporting documentation indicating acceptable education and professional work experience along with a non-refundable application fee of $100.00 USD.

❖ The application and supporting documentation is reviewed and evaluated by the ICRM and evaluated to determine if the qualification requirements have been met.

Application Fees:

❖ Prospective Candidates pay a non-refundable fee of $100.00 USD for processing their original application and evaluating credentials.

❖ Applicants who fail to meet mandatory qualifications are required to resubmit a new application form (including a new processing fee if they request reconsideration more than one year after the date of the original application).

STEP 1: BECOMING A CRA/CRM CANDIDATE

Preferred Qualifications:

❖ The preferred qualifications for applying for either the CRA or the CRM are a college degree (four-year or bachelor’s degree) and one year of professional records and information management (RIM) experience.

❖ One additional year of professional RIM experience may be substituted for each year of college not completed (i.e. a high-school graduate with five years of professional RIM experience could apply). For example: Bachelor degree (Graduate degree implies completion of Bachelor degree) PLUS one year professional level RIM experience OR

❖ 3 years college PLUS two years professional level RIM experience OR

❖ 2 years college PLUS three years professional level RIM experience OR

❖ 1 year college PLUS four years professional level RIM experience OR

❖ High School Diploma or GED PLUS five years professional level RIM experience

Professional Work Experience:

❖ The minimum acceptable professional (RIM) experience is one year in conjunction with a Bachelor degree or higher. Acceptable professional work experience may have been acquired if a person has:

❖ Conducted studies and surveys

❖ Developed, designed, and implemented records or information management systems

❖ Had direct managerial or operational responsibility for RIM programs

❖ Has taught in an accredited college/university (on a full time basis) courses in RIM

❖ The ICRM requires external, written verification signed by the employer of claimed experience containing sufficient detail to determine if the work meets the standards described above.

❖ If job descriptions meeting the above criteria are not available, letters from employers or clients can be considered as long as they contain the needed information.

STEP 3: TAKING THE EXAMS❖ Offered quarterly (November, February, May, August)

❖ Register to take each exam on the ICRM website

❖ Exam Fees: $100 USD

❖ Taken on computer at PearsonVue Testing Centers

❖ Exams are timed (80 minutes Parts 1-5, 240 minutes Part 6)

❖ 70% to pass (parts 1-5 receive score immediately, part 6 takes up to 6 weeks for grade)

❖ You can retake any failed part of the exams

STEP 4: ONCE YOU PASS!

CRA’s and CRM’s must pay annual dues $200.00 USD to the ICRM and are members of the ICRM

Active CRAs and CRMs must earn and submit 100 points for approved educational activity during each five-year period following initial certification

CRM’s may serve on the ICRM Board of Regents
