All graduates of CEPH-accredited

SPH and programs

All public health degrees, not just MPH.

Exam Eligibility

Students who:

• Students who have completed 21 credit hours towards their

public health degree by the time the exam is administered. The 21

hours MUST include completion of or concurrent enrollment in:

o biostatistics

o epidemiology

o environmental health

o health policy

o behavioral sciences

Individuals who have taken the five core classes at a CEPH-accredited institution and who meet one of two additional

eligibility criteria:

• Minimum of five years of public health experience OR

• Possession of a relevant graduate degree

Full-time/ranked faculty at a CEPH-accredited institution who meet one

or both of the criteria above may request that they be exempted from the

requirement of formally taking a class in their core area(s) of expertise.

The CPH Examination

• Proctored-testing centers

• 200 items

• Approximately 4 hours to complete

• No calculators or scratch paper allowed

• Receive white board & markers

• Pass rate is 80-85%

• Often described as “Hard but Fair”

• 2 testing cycles per year: February and October

• Other paper-pencil testing administrations available by

request

• Offered in locations in USA and globally
