in the church office at 276-3903 or by email at [email protected].
Our first Wednesday Night Fellowship will be a Luau theme event.

EPWORTH IS OUR MINISTRY! Where do children go when DSS has taken them from their families because of abuse or neglect? What about when a mother is struggling with addiction and is neglecting her children? Last year 181 of these chil-dren found refuge in the ministry we share as United Methodists in SC. Epworth Children’s Home has been welcoming children in Christ’s name for 120 years through the generous support of churches like ours! We will participate in the annual Work Day Offering on Sunday, September 10th, to benefit the children who call Epworth home. Please be in prayerful consideration of what God is calling you to give to this valuable and life changing ministry. For more information about Epworth Children’s Home, you can visit them on the web at www.epworthchildrenshome.org or find them on Facebook.
Due to the high volume of traffic expected in downtown Newberry for the Solar Eclipse on
Monday, Aug. 21, the church office will be closed.

Never to early to get started…... OKTOBERFEST …….…..October 7, 2017
Central UMC will, once again, be part of the Oktoberfest celebration in downtown Newberry on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10am-6pm. We are looking forward to the opportunity to share our ministries and outreach programs with the community. We are looking for volunteers to help pass out information and talk to visitors about our church, and we are also hoping that our women’s groups and men’s group can provide items to sell to raise money for each groups different outreach projects and ministries. If you have any questions or would like to help, please contact Jennie DuBose at 276-2901.

The Prelude Praise Him! Praise Him! by Allen arr. Turner The Chiming of the Hour The Lighting of the Altar Candles The Choral Call to Worship Chancel Choir *The Hymn “This Is a Day of New Beginnings” No. 383
The Opening Prayer (In Unison) We often act like we are the only children in your family, God. Our arrogance has caused divisions where none should be. We forget that through Christ we have been adopted into the family you have chosen for your own. And we forget others were adopted from other ethnic groups, and other denominations of the Christian church. We have not loved them as brothers and sisters should be loved, nor have we loved the unit for which Christ prayed. Remind us again that our adoption has become a reality only by the precious blood of your Son, Jesus Christ. Never let us forget that we are members of your family, not by inheritance, but by loving and grace-filled adoption. (Silence)
