SECTION NEWS SECTION NEWS SECTION NEWS SECTION NEWS The Central Ohio Section held a meeting at ASNTHeadquarters in Columbus, Ohio on January 16,2014. There were 14 members, guests and vendors inattendance. Mr. Karl Schmidt, Defense ApplicationsProgram Manager of Evisive gave a presentation on “TheBasics of Microwave NDE Technology” This unique NDTmethod was initially developed to inspect dielectricmaterials such as rubber expansion joints and fiberglassreinforced piping. Once the method was patented, Evisive,Inc. was founded and has refined the equipment andmethods into an advanced and proven specialty NDEtechnique. The Evisive microwave NDE technique hascurrently been applied as a field-proven method, to a widerange of dielectrics, including: reinforced rubber, HDPEbutt and electro-fusion joints, other plastics, ceramics,organic and ceramic composites and other advancedmaterials. Mr. Clausing currently serves as the Vice President for the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) and also chairs the RESNET Enclosures technical subcommittee. He is also the owner of Drysdale & Associates, Inc., with over 30 years experience in spectral and thermal analysis. Mr Clausing is an ASNT certified NDT Level III subject matter expert in infrared temperature measurement and thermal imaging analysis. He also serves as an officer for the ASTM E07 committee for nondestructive testing and chairs subcommittee E07.10 for Specialized NDT Methods.
