FOCUS PROGRAMINTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
Being a student in an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School means learning about and taking action in our world. Our students become internationally-minded and exemplify a specific set of traits.
Our students are inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced, and reflective. These are all qualities of internationalism, which characterize our students in a global, complex, and rapidly changing world. “It’s exciting for our students
to have a say in what they learn. It’s reflected in their enthusiasm during lessons.”
OUR STAFFThe 26 teachers of Central Elementary have over 450 years of combined teaching experience. 21 teachers hold advanced degrees. Principal Hecocks has over 38 years experience in education; 17 of those years as an elementary school teacher.
The 24 support staff assist in various capacities to ensure our students’ learning environment is safe, orderly, and focused on learning: the office staff, media specialist, instructional assistants, kitchen staff, and custodial staff.

PROGRAMSHawks Club Before and After School Child Care provides opportunities, through SVVSD’s Community Schools child care, to enrich the lives of children in a safe and welcoming environment and supporting them to realize their highest potential. The child care staff offers extended learning to enhance school achievement as well as enrichment and recreation activities that support a well-rounded experience for the children in their care.
Central Explorers Wraparound Pre-school Program is a licensed program for children in preschool or half-day kindergarten who need care during the portion of their day when not in school.
Our hours are 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

TECHNOLOGYCentral Elementary received a technology update during the summer of 2014. Every classroom has a ceiling-mounted projector, document camera, sound system and microphone that interface with teachers’ computers and laptops.
This technology enables our students to have access to interactive and real-time learning experiences that bring the world into their classrooms.
ENRICHMENT CLASSES
PARENT INVOLVEMENTThe Central PTO is a highly active organization whose focus is to provide material and human resources to support the instructional program of Central Elementary. Numerous events are sponsored throughout the year.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time to share their expertise, talents, or interests to enhance the education of our students.
A variety of affordable fee-based classes are held after school on a regular basis to provide more opportunities for our students to explore new learning, including Choir, Juggling, Pottery, Bee keeping, Robotics, LEGO building, Bolder Boulder and 100-mile Running Clubs, Soccer, and Zumba.
