QUALIFICATIONS FOR ESL STUDENTS

✔ Permanent Kansas residents ✔ Adults 18 years or older

ESL CLASSES ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR

✘ Adults with student visas ✘ Adults with tourist visas

EXPECTATIONS

Students must:

▣ Register for an orientation session

▣ Attend a two-day, three hours each day, orientation and testing session

▣ Attend regularly

▣ Attend classes consistently until December 10

ρ If students stop attending classes before December 10, they may not be readmitted for the spring session in January.

▣ Be in class on time

▣ Attend classes at the same location where they had orientation and completed the tests

▣ Pay a book and material fee on the second day of testing to reserve a place in class – material fees are not refundable

▣ Be in class on the first day of class

Whether you speak little or no English, JCCC offers English as a Second Language classes at your level.

▣ There is a material fee. Classes fill quickly.

▣ No student is guaranteed a place in class.

▣ You must sign up in person and cannot sign up friends or relatives.

▣ You cannot sign up by telephone.

▣ You will be given an appointment card listing the days and times of your orientation and testing.

▣ You must come to both days of orientation and testing.

▣ Bring your appointment card with you.

▣ Arrive on time.

▣ If you come late, you will be rescheduled for the next available orientation and testing only if space is available.

REGISTRATION ORIENTATION AND TESTINGESL CLASSES

REMEMBER: You must make an appointment to attend orientation and testing. Bring your appointment card with you to orientation.

▣ All registration, orientation and testing for both locations will be at West Park.

▣ You must attend both days.

▣ You will pay for the books and materials on the second day of testing.
