Multicultural AffairsAdelphi is committed to ensuring an inclusive and socially just environment. CSI supports that commitment with a range of programs exploring the intersection of social identities, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, class and spiritual diversity. CSI also offers advocacy, social justice and cultural programming, affinity spaces, workshops and training sessions. Join in these programs! They’re for all members of the Adelphi community.

First-Year Student OrientationOrientation is one of the most memorable times you’ll spend at Adelphi. It’s so much fun, and it’s when you’ll make many lasting friendships. It’s also a time that will help you make the transition to college, giving you the information and tools you’ll need to hit the ground running in the fall. You’ll meet with advisers, register for classes and learn to find your way around campus. You’ll also become familiar with CSI, which develops all orientation programs at Adelphi.

Adelphi Spirit WeekendAnother campus tradition is Spirit Weekend. Just like Orientation, it’s coordinated by CSI, but it offers great activities for all students as well as their families, alumni and members of the Adelphi community. It’s a weekend of games, carnival rides, entertainment and off-campus trips, and includes the crowning of the Adelphi Spirit Court.

CommencementThe culmination of your journey at Adelphi is celebrated at Commencement. CSI will give you all the information and materials you need to make this event an enjoyable and memorable experience.

PantherTainmentThere are so many things going on in and around Adelphi, and PantherTainment can help you enjoy them. Visit adelphi.universitytickets.com to find:

What Is CSI?Our name says it all. At the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), we’re here to help you and other students get involved in campus life and in our community. You have so many options, from our 80 student clubs and organizations, including Greek fraternities and sororities, to our many community service projects and campus activities.

Campus Life and ActivitiesTaking part in campus life has so many benefits. It can help you build leadership skills and develop new friendships. It can give you a chance to pursue your interests or develop new ones, further your studies, exchange ideas and explore new cultures.

Besides student organizations, there are dozens of activities to enjoy at Adelphi, including holiday events, civic engagement, alternative spring and winter service trips, diversity programs, performances, lectures and off-campus events.

Making a DifferenceYou can have a big impact on life at Adelphi and in the larger community.

Greek Life and Social FellowshipsMembership in a fraternity, sorority or social fellowship can be among the most rewarding college experiences, promoting scholarship, leadership, community service and lifelong friendships. There are 19 organizations to choose from. Learn about them at csi.adelphi.edu/greek-life-fellowship.

Commuter Student Services If you’re a commuter, Commuter Student Services, as well as the Commuter Student Organization and the Commuter Assistant Program, can help you get fully involved in campus life.

Relax between classes in the Angela and Barry Zeman Commuter Student Lounge in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, where you’ll have access to computers, printers, lockers, a big-screen TV and microwave ovens. There are other lounge areas throughout the campus, too.

Grab free monthly breakfasts at Commuter Connection, or an afternoon pick-me-up each month at Commuter Coffee Break. Take advantage of programs geared specifically toward commuter students, including Commuter Appreciation Week, Commuter Assistant events and more.

Transfer Student ServicesIf you’re a transfer student, Adelphi has special advisers, events and workshops that will help you make the transition to the University. Come to Transfer Transition Day and our many transfer meet-and-greet opportunities, and think about becoming a member of Tau Sigma National Honor Society, exclusively for transfers.

Imagine yourself suggesting changes to Adelphi’s Fresh Air policy aimed at sharply reducing secondhand cigarette smoke. That’s what a member of the Student Government Association did—and that suggestion brought about new policies at the University in 2014.

Imagine yourself building a roof and walls for a home in Uniondale, New York. That’s what C.A.L.I.B.E.R. volunteers do each year with Habitat for Humanity of Nassau County.

And imagine yourself starting a new club or organization on campus. You can do that, bringing together students with similar interests and goals.

Student Leadership ServicesWant to build leadership skills? We have a number of programs that can help you, including our Leadership Certificate Program. It features workshops that will help you grow in ways that will carry you through school and into your career.

Volunteer and Service ProgramsWhen you begin looking for a job, you’ll find that employers love applicants who have a strong background in volunteering and service projects. With our ties to community organizations in the area, we can help you find opportunities that are valuable and rewarding. Relay for Life, the First-Year Community Action Program, Adelphi Gives Back Month, blood drives and alternative winter and spring service trips in the United States and abroad are just a few of the possibilities.
