CENTAX®-B

The well proven CENTAX-Series B is a clever combination of the flexible CENTAX-element with a simple, stiff pin and bush coupling. It is applied for all kinds of main- and auxiliary drives, especially on gensets. CENTAX-elements are of high torsional elasticity, high radial elasticity and moderate angular elasticity. The torsionally stiff pin and bush coupling allows substantial movement in axial direction. For flanged drives the coupling may be plugged in axially. On free standing drives the units maybe mounted axially or radially and the rubber element can be exchanged radially without disturbance of the coupled units. A simple, robust and competetive torsionally flexible coupling to fulfill the requirements of all kinds of applications.

The CENTAX-B-couplings have the following features:

• Medium to high torsional flexibility, according to the shorehardness and number of rubber elements

• High radial flexibility• The coupling can slide axially and adjust on the bushes,

Die bewährte CENTAX-Baureihe B ist eine geschickte Kombination der elastischen CENTAX-Elemente mit einer einfachen, steifen Bolzenkupplung. Sie wird für alle Arten von Haupt- und Nebenantrieben eingesetzt, insbeson-dere für Generatoren. Die CENTAX-Elemente ergeben hohe Drehelastizität, hohe radiale Elastizität sowie mäßi-ge winkelige Elastizität. Die drehsteife Bolzenkupplung erlaubt beträchtliche Bewegungen in axialer Richtung. Bei geflanschten Anlagen kann die Kupplung axial zusam-mengesteckt werden. Bei freistehenden Anlagen können die Aggregate sowohl waagerecht als auch senkrecht eingebracht werden und das Gummielement kann ohne Verschieben der Aggregate radial ausgetauscht werden. Eine einfache, robuste und wettbewerbsfähige drehelasti-sche Kupplung mit idealen Voraussetzungen für jede Art von Einbausituation.

Die CENTAX-B-Kupplungen zeichnen sich durch folgende Eigenschaften aus:

• Mittlere bis hohe Drehelastizität, je nach Shorehärte und Anzahl der Gummielemente

• Hohe radiale Elastizität• Große axiale Verlagerungsfähigkeit, denn die Bolzen

können in der Kupplungsnabe gleiten und sich axial frei einstellen

Axialassembly:

Sizes 75-85 (pict. 1): The rubber element including pin and bush is connected to the flywheel. The hub is moun-ted onto the driven shaft. The driven unit together with the coupling hub is axially engaged onto the pin and bush and is then aligned. This version is also suitable for flange mounted gensets. Status of delivery “A”: Pin and bush assembled - to be mentioned upon order (please see below).

Radialassembly:

Sizes 75-187 (pict. 2+3): The rubber element with pin and bush flange only (but without pin and bush) is bolted onto the flywheel. The hub is then mounted onto the dri-ven shaft. Together with the coupling hub the driven unit is brought into position radially and is then aligned. The rubber element is then inserted radially and bolted to the flywheel. After this the pins and bushes have to be moun-ted individually observing the required tightening torques (see below). Status of delivery “B” (pin and bush not assembled) is our standard and will be delivered unless otherwise demanded.

Sizes 276-488 (pict. 4): Push the bolt flange as far as possible towards the generator. The segments can then be mounted or disassembled radially.

For the exchange of the rubber elements the above steps have to be done analogeously, but in different sequence. The pictures below show the removal of the rubber ele-ments.

AxialeMontage:

Größen 75-85 (Bild 1): Das Gummielement einschließlich der Bolzen wird an das Schwungrad geschraubt. Die Nabe wird auf die anzutreibende Welle montiert. Danach wird das angetriebene Aggregat mitsamt der Kupplungsnabe auf die Bolzen aufgeschoben und ausgerichtet. Diese Bauform ist auch für geflanschte Aggregate geeignet. Anlieferungszustand “A”: Bolzen montiert (siehe unten).

RadialeMontage:

Größen 75-187 (Bild 2+3): Das Gummielement mit Bol-zenflansch, (jedoch ohne Bolzen) wird an das Schwung-rad geschraubt. Die Nabe wird auf die anzutreibende Welle montiert. Danach wird das angetriebene Aggregat mitsamt der Kupplungsnabe senkrecht in seine Position gebracht und ausgerichtet. Dann wird das Gummiele-ment radial eingebracht und mit dem Schwungrad ver-schraubt. Danach werden die Bolzen einzeln mit dem vorgeschriebenen Anzugsdrehmoment montiert (siehe unten). Anlieferzustand “B” (Bolzen nicht montiert): ist Standard und wird geliefert wenn nicht anders angege-ben.

Größen 276-488 (Bild 4): Den Bolzenflansch soweit als möglich in Richtung Generator schieben. Danach Seg-mente radial montieren bzw. austauschen.

Beim Austausch der Gummielemente muß analog der vorstehenden Beschreibung, nur in anderer Reihenfolge vorgegangen werden. Die unteren Zeichnungen zeigen den Ausbau der Gummielemente.

Sizes 00 and 100 are not segmented, which makes them commendable and competitive. The hub lies outside of the element, which enables an easy radial exchange of the flexible CENTAX-element without moving the coupled units. Thus the shaftend of the driven shaft may not exceed the hub end on the engine side in order to not restrict the space for radial assembly of the element.

If radial assembly can be abandoned, the hub may be arranged within the flexible element and the genset may be shorter. For the necessity to change the flexible ele-ment the generator will then have to be moved axially.

Die Baureihen 00 und 100 sind nicht segmentiert. Sie sind daher besonders empfehlenswert und wettbewerbsfähig. Die Nabe liegt außerhalb des Elementes, damit es mög-lich ist, das elastische CENTAX-Element ohne Verschieben der Aggregate, ohne Probleme radial zu tauschen. Daher darf das Wellenende der angetriebenen Welle nicht über das motorseitige Ende der Nabe hinausragen, damit der Freiraum für die radiale Montage des Elementes nicht ein-geengt wird. Falls auf die Möglichkeit der radialen Montage verzichtet werden kann, dann kann die Nabe innerhalb des elasti-schen Elementes angeordnet werden und das Aggregat kann kürzer ausgeführt werden. Zum eventuellen Tausch des elastischen Elementes muß dann allerdings der Gene-rator axial verschoben werden.

The flexible CENTAX-element of the sizes 200 and 400 consists of 2 or 4 segments. Thus the hub is arranged within the flexible element for short overal length still enabling easy radial exchange of the segments.

We recommend these series when a short overall length of the unit is required. The arrangement of the hub outside the flexible element is nevertheless also possible although the use of series 00 and 100 shown on page 5 is prefer-able in such case.

Bei den Baureihen 200 und 400 besteht das elastische CENTAX-Element aus 2 bzw. 4 Segmenten. Daher wird die Nabe im Interesse einer kurzen Baulänge innerhalb des elastischen Elementes angeordnet und trotzdem können die Segmente jederzeit ganz leicht radial getauscht werden.

Daher empfehlen wir diese Baureihen wenn eine mög-lichst kurze Baulänge des Aggregates angestrebt wird. Die Anordnung der Nabe außerhalb des elastischen Elementes ist jedoch auch bei dieser Baureihe möglich. Vorzug haben jedoch in diesem Falle die Baureihen 00 und 100 derSeite 5.
