Cemeteries

Wollondilly Shire Council operates cemeteries in the townships of Bargo, Picton & Thirlmere. All cemeteries cater for the interment of ashes into columbarium walls and most offer plots within the main denominations and also a general (non-denomination) area. Reservations Reservations of burial plots or interment

niches for future use can be made through Council.

Reservation price includes first interment. Full payment must be made at the time of

reservation. Once processed the applicant will be sent a Right Of Burial certificate to be kept with personal papers.

Lawn beams Lawn Beam plots allow for the erection of a

headstone only. Monuments and plants cannot be placed on the grave area.

Council reserves the right to remove without notice any unapproved or unauthorised works and excessive or inappropriate objects including plants and flowers placed in the lawn beam section.

Monumental Plots Monumental Plots allow for a full gravesite

surround in accordance with the below conditions for erection of a monument.

Headstones Council requires that all monuments must

be installed by a monumental mason and approved by Council in addition to having the consent of the Grantee of the Right of Burial.

Council will not be liable for the future care and maintenance of the headstone (& sur-rounds).

Bargo

Cemetery Bargo cemetery is located at the Northern end

of Great Southern Road.

Set in the bushland, Bargo Cemetery offers monumental

burial plots in Catholic, Anglican and non-denominational

sections. Columbarium Wall and Memorial Tree garden

allotments are available for the interment of ashes.

Only one interment per plot is permitted at Bargo.

(Double interments are permitted at Council’s other

cemeteries).

Thirlmere

Cemetery Thirlmere cemetery is located on the corner of

Station & Leonard Streets.

Thirlmere cemetery provides a peaceful setting for quiet remembrance with burial plots available in Anglican, Catholic, General, Presbyterian, Estonian, Methodist, Non-Denominational and Baha'i sections. Some sections offer a choice of lawn beam or monumental graves. Memorial Tree garden allotments and Niches in the Columbarium Wall are available for interment of ashes.

Picton

Cemetery Picton cemetery is located between Dunlop Place

& Wild Street in Upper Picton.

Picton Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in the area containing graves dating back to the 1800s. The new section provides for interment in general (non-denomination) lawn beams and interment of ashes within the Remembrance Wall or Memorial Wall. The older monumental section is at full capacity and is only available for existing reservations.
