CELLULAR RESPIRATION
Final Project By: Alejandra Gomez
Computer Block D
Due: January 26,2010
WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
Occurs in the Mitochondria
Cellular Respiration= Chemical Process
STAGES IN ORDER FOR CELLULAR
RESPIRATION TO OCCUR
The three stages include:
1.Glycolysis2.Krebs Cycle
3.Electron transport Exchange and ATP
Synthase Action
1ST STAGE: GLYCOLYSIS
•Occurs in the cytoplasm
Glycolysis means “splitting of sugar”
1st stage in breaking down a glucose molecule
2ND STAGE: KREB’S CYCLE
Finishes the breakdown of pyruvic acid molecules
The enzymes are dissolved in the fluid matrix
At the end, 4 –carbon acceptor molecule has been regenerated
3RD STAGE: ELECTRON TRANSPORT EXCHANGE AND ATP SYNTHASE
•Occurs in the inner membrane of the mitochondria• there are 2 parts to this stage:
1.Electron transport Chain2.ATP Synthase
Uses the
energy form
H+ ions to
covert ADP to
ATP
CELLULAR RESPIRATION TO BREATHING
Anaerobic= without oxygen
Aerobic= requires oxygen
