Introduction:Introduction: Nokia has developed a

new idea by usingnanotechnology bycollaborating with

Cambridge University ofUK.This new idea iscalled MORPH,which willbe the material thatmakes up futuristic

cellphone that could beas elastic as possibleand transformable toany shape to suit to theuser need.

Contd««««Morph takes the main advantage that

could be delievered using

nanotechnology ,which would embark onthree major features that you will neverfind on today·s cellphone:flexiblematerials ,transparent electronics and

self ²cleaning surfaces.

Nokia Morph concept  Morph is a concept that

demostrates how futuremobiles devices mightbe strechable and

flexible ,allowing theiruser to transformstheir mobiles intoradically differentshapes. The main idea iscentered around where

nanotechnology canproduce materials thatare super flexible whichcan change into anyform.

Contd««««« The super flexibility

and elasticity is notrelated to body or

case of mobile, but italso involves theelectroniccomponents lyinginside ,which arestretchable, transparent to suit itself toany user.

Contd«««. Nanotechnology enables materials and components

that are flexible, stretchable, transparent andremarkably strong. Fibril proteins are woven into athree dimensional mesh that reinforces thin elastic

structures. Using the same principle behind spidersilk, this elasticity enables the device to literallychange shapes and configure itself to adapt to thetask at hand.

A folded design would fit easily in a pocket and couldlend itself ergonomically to being used as a traditionalhandset. An unfolded larger design could display moredetailed information, and incorporate input devicessuch as keyboards and touch pads.

Contd««««« For eg: it can start in the

shape of cell phone, but thenunfolded into screen to viewmovies and other media.Thislarger screen wouldincorporate input devices

such as keyboards and touchpads as well to allow forcommunication .It could thenbe folded up into braceletthat you can wear on yourwrist .As Nokia says:The

Morph would allow us tocommunicate and interact inunprecedented ways.

Opportunites for other mobile

devices: Newly-enabled flexible and transparent materialsblend more seamlessly with the way we live

Devices become self-cleaning and self-preserving

Transparent electronics offering an entirely newaesthetic dimension Built-in solar absorption might charge a device, whilst

batteries become smaller, longer lasting and faster tocharge

Integrated sensors might allow us to learn moreabout the environment around us, empowering us tomake better choice

Conclusion:

Morph still needs couple of years towork before it comes true as the mainbuilding material for cell phones. The

prediction is morph devices would onlysurface and be used among high endcellphones in about 7 years· time.Andhoping that one day may lead to lowercost of manufacturing in nanotechnologyfor incorporating Morph into cheaperphone models.
