Daves pick of the month is the Grand Cru International South African
Chenin Blanc. Dave recommends this unique white wine to any cus-
tomer that wants a refreshing, lightly floral mid-priced wine that they
can enjoy during the warm and humid days of summer.
Says Dave, I like the lemony scent and how fresh and crisp it is.! I love
drinking this Chenin Blanc while digging into steamed mussels or
shrimp
Called Steen when grown in South Africa, this graceful wine is light-
bodied with a pale straw colour. The fruity scented nose has hints of green apple and lemon with
a subtle floral bouquet rounding out the nose. On the palate the wine is delightfully refreshing.
$76 until June 30, 2011 Oak: 0 - Body: 2 - Sweetness: 2
Daves Wine Pairing Recommendation: Enjoy a glass of this lovely Chenin Blanc with Shrimp Fra

Spotlight on Valpolicellatypes of Valpolicella wines: Valpolicella and
Amarone.
Our Valpolicella wines tend to be a little
lighter bodied than other red wines such as
Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons. In fact,
our Valpolicella offerings tend to be very
easy drinking, fragrant and rich in flavours
of berries and red fruit. Our Cru Select
Valpolicella Ripassa made using the tradi-
tional Ripasso method of fermenting the
wine with dried grape skins
The Valley Wine Cellars Amarone offer-
ings provide a luxurious, velvety, heavy-
bodied red wine that is made traditionallyusing desiccated grapes and dried grape
skins.
Valpolicella, one of our most popular red
wines is commonly associated with the
Valpolicella viticultural zone in the Verona
province in Italy.
The Valpolicella area of Italy is quite hilly
and has a mild to cool continental climate
that is greatly influenced by Lake Garda to
the west and the Adriatic Sea to the south-
east. The vineyard soils in the Valpolicella
tend to be quite gravely and the best vine-
yards are situated at altitudes of 500 to
1500 feet.
Valpolicella wines are made from three
primary grape varietals: Corvina Veronese,Rondinella, and Molinara.
