FFOORREESSTT CCIITTYY — The Iowa Iota Chapter of WaldorfCollege’s Alpha Chi Honor Society announced PPeetteerrEEggggeebbrraaaatteenn, of Forest City, and AAsshhlleeyy LLuuttrriicckk, of Nor-walk, each received a $500 research grant. The organiza-tion awards the grants annually.

Eggebraaten, an English and creative writing major,will use his grant to help with his English thesis, “APhysical Intellect.” The thesis explores the idea that allliterary objects can be studied as systems governed bynatural physical law. Eggebraaten plans to present histhesis at the National Undergraduate Literature Confer-ence in April.

Lutrick, a biology and pre-professional wellnessmajor, plans to use her grant to aid in her research pro-ject, “Effect of deforestation on microbial biodiversitywithin the Amazon Rainforest and the presence ofpotential novel Actinomycetes.” She plans to present herproject at the Iowa Academy of Sciences in April.Lutrick is basing her research off of soil samples she col-lected in Peru this summer as part of a trip with theWaldorf College Biology Club.
