One: This is a day of celebrating God who journeys with us through all things. Cong: A time to remember, but not leave behind. One: A time to be thankful for all we have been through together. Cong: A time to show and to share what God’s love can do. One: This is also a day to celebrate new beginnings. Cong: Let us praise God who makes all things new!

Opening Prayer:

Gracious God, we gather this morning to thank you for Pirie and for our life together in this congregation and community. You have led him to serve your people in this place, to build up your Church, and to glorify your name. We have worked in common for the sake of your church. Together we have studied your word. Together we have broken bread and given thanks. In thanksgiving, we praise you for raising up faithful servants among us for ministry. And we pray that Pirie may continue to exemplify, in word and deed, the example set for us by Jesus. Grant that we may continue to serve you faithfully for all our days. Amen

Faith Formation Fundraiser The Faith Formation Committee will accept donations of $2.00 or $5.00 from 21 January to 12 February. On 12 February someone will be the recipient of a beautiful gift basket, courtesy of Shopper's Drug Mart.

Nursery care required We would like to attract young families to Avondale. In order to do that we require a person to look after, and coordinate, the nursery during church services on Sunday mornings. If you could help in this regard, please contact:

Margaret Duboyce at 519-273-4090 or [email protected]

FROM YOUR STEWARDSHIP & FINANCE COMMITTEE – we want to take this chance to thank all members who took the time to complete the commitment form that was a key part of our fall campaign and a tool we use to inform budget preparation. Your willingness to review your resources and assess what commitment you can make to the life and work of Avondale United is critical to our annual planning processes. Here is a few facts:

We received a total of 282 responses – 110 from envelope donors and 172 from members on the PAR program

7 more people joined PAR and this is very helpful as it helps us to predict cash flow

23 people increased their givings; the net value was slightly reduced when we factor in loss of members through death/transfer out

Please know that the information provided is kept confidential and only non-identifying information is released to the committee to assist us in our work. Please know that the information helps us to prepare a realistic budget for 2017.

How can you help with Avondale's "fellowship time" after the church service?? If you have a special Sunday in mind that you would like to celebrate by looking after "fellowship time" after the service .... please sign the "fellowship time" calendar (which is on the Volunteer board outside of Fellowship Hall. IMPORTANT..You need to let the Chair of the committee know (their name and phone number is listed on the 1st Sunday of the monthly calendar) Then they will know that particular Sunday fellowship time is then being looked after. Questions? call Susan at 271-1314
