Two Expressions ofGod’s Faithfulness

1. Faithful to Israel

“Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his

name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And

he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout

all generations.” (Exodus 3:13–15, ESV)

“God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son,

Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9, NIV)

Three Implications ofGod’s Faithfulness1. God can be Trusted

“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his

covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.”

(Deuteronomy 7:9, NIV)

“Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in

the trench.”(1 Kings 18:38 NIV)

“As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus

resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:51, NIV)

“…Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the

kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth,

anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child

will never enter it.”(Luke 18:16-17, NIV)

“When he came near, Jesus asked him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ ‘Lord, I want to see,’ he replied. Jesus said to him, ‘Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.’ Immediately he

received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw

Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who

believes in me will never be thirsty. All that the Father gives me will

come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.”

“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making

everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words

are trustworthy and true.’”(Revelation 21:5, NIV)

“I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God

Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need

the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it

light, and the Lamb is its lamp.” (Revelation 21:22-23, NIV)
