FROM THE PRESIDENT’S PEN
It has come to my attention that some of you are having trouble responding to the Evites, downloading the News & Views or membership roster, and saving them to your computer, I-Phone, Smart Phone, or I-Pad. For that reason, at each luncheon there will be a signup sheet to receive hands-on help. Jean Fickle and Nancie Boland are looking forward to helping you and will schedule the times and location.
If you do not have a colored picture in the membership roster, please see Jean Fickle at the membership table at our monthly luncheons to have your picture taken. We would like to have a colored picture of every member in the roster. If you have any changes to your information such as e-mail, address, or phone number, please let Jean Fickle know so the corrections can be made.
Please remember when you are responding to the Evites, you need to view the invitation, and after you have selected one of the three choices (yes, no, maybe), you also need to move down through the invitation and click on reply. If you forget to click on reply, your response is not recorded.
Bentley's was the place to be on October 8th when N/L had a dining out. It was great to have 57 people in attendance. Many spent time on the outdoor patio enjoying the balmy evening and the view. Thanks to the staff at Bentley's and to Katy Kirn and
Barbara McGee, Dining Out Chairs, for such a lovely evening.
We are thrilled to welcome 14 new members. Many of you joined at the kickoff and several at cards and games. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions. I am available to you 24/7.
Your President
M. Jean Andrew

The members of Detachment 1137, Marine Corps League, Lake of the Ozarks, include former and active duty Marines and FMF Corpsmen who share their pride and spirit in our nation’s Marine Corps. Members come from all walks of life and many different periods of Marine Corps history, but share that special bond as brothers and sisters of a unique band of warriors who have served or are serving our nation at home and abroad.
The November 20th luncheon will once again feature the popular Unique Boutique, where N/L members are given the opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping. The Boutique features crafts, hand-made items, jewelry, clothing, art and a variety of other items offered by other N/L members. Shopping will begin before the luncheon at 10:30 a.m., and will continue again after lunch.
The luncheon will be held at the Country Club Spa & Resort in Palazzo Hall #2 and will include tossed garden salad, loaded grilled chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries, iced tea, coffee and water. Cherry cobbler will be offered for dessert.
Reservations or cancellations must be made no later than 6 pm on Sunday, November 16. For luncheon reservations contact Linda Commons at 573-365-2074.
To participate as a vendor, contact Merry Lakebrink, who is once again serving as the Boutique coordinator this year. Vendor tables are $10 each.
During the luncheon, Marine Corps League #1137 (see story on this page) will also be collecting old or worn flags from the N/L members and formally retiring them. Feel free to bring your flags to present to them before or after the luncheon.
They are not a veteran’s organization that sits around reliving “old war stories.” Their main purpose is to share and build upon the special bond between Marines by supporting other Marines, past and present, along with their families in time of need. They have also assisted N/L with the Home Tour for many years, so please show your support of this organization at the November luncheon.
The N/L Family has sent cards to the
following members this month:
Family of Joyce Caven - Sympathy
Devaney Dale - Get Well
Janet Macken - Get Well
Pam Hahn - Get Well

As you know, N/L is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. As part of this observance, we’re seeking members who have been with the organization the longest. We’d love to find ladies who were with us in the inaugural year, if at all possible.
N/L is happy to introduce these two new activities for 2014/15. The Walking Club will select weekly venues of approximately two miles in length around the lake area for a morning of exercise and socialization. Venues will include established walking and hiking trails as well as walks around the club members’ neighborhoods. This group kicks off its activities on Monday, October 27 with a walk around the Osage Beach Premium Outlets. The group will meet in front of the Polo/Ralph Lauren store at 10 am. For more information contact Sharon Yoder at 913-231-1120 or by email at [email protected].
Dining Out is a social evening with spouses and friends held once a month at various restaurant, wineries and venues around the lake. Social hour with cash bar begins at 6 pm and dinner is served at 7 pm. Please mail checks to Katy Kirn at 1385 Arbor Ct., Osage Beach, MO. 65065.
For additional information call Katy Kirn at 573-693-9304 or Barb McGee at 573-220-1147.

For those seeking natural health care, essential oils may be the answer. There are over 200 references throughout the Bible where oils are used to heal the sick. Essential oils can improve resistance to disease by initiating regeneration while allowing the elimination of accumulated toxins. Just ask Stevie Biggs of the NFL; singer Merrill Osmond; Josh Hamilton, outfielder for the LA Angels; Mike Seavey, 2x Iditarod Champion; Robert Findley, world soccer; Melanie Simon, Hollywood Esthetician; or more than 50 hospitals across the country!!
