Download “Audacity’’ (Windows version) and save to a folder.
Once downloaded, click on it to install it.
Also download the LAME encoder to the same folder and then extract all files in it.

Connect headphone set to computer.
Open “Audacity’’. Go to Edit Preferences.
Under the Audio I/O tab, ensure that your recording and playback devices are selected.
Under the File Formats tab, click on ‘Find Library’ and then point to the LAME encoder file (lame_enc.dll) that you extracted earlier. Also, change the Bit Rate to 64.

When finished, press the Stop button, then the Rewind button.
Press Play to play your recording.

You can also record using portable audio recording devices e.g. iRiver, Edirol (by Roland), PDA’s
When using Audacity, ensure that you are recording at 44100 Hz sampling rate or you will run into problems later.
Record in a quiet place.

Open the recorded file (if it is not already open). (File Open Select the file.
Listen to your file, noting parts that need to be edited (or deleted).
Click on the + or – icons in order to get a good view of your track.

To delete a part of your recording, select the part by clicking and dragging on it using your left mouse button.
Press the Play button after selection, to play only the selected section. Your can increase or decrease selection by dragging on the edges of selected area. (Use the Zoom buttons).
Press the Delete key to remove unwanted sections.
Save as an Audacity project file. (Does not alter the original file).

To add audio or music (use Podsafe music): Go to Project Import Audio. Browse to the audio file to import it. The new audio is dropped into a new track.
Use the Time Shift Tool to drag the audio clips to position them.
Use Effects such as Amplify, Fade In, Fade Out and Normalize. Experiment! You can always UNDO to go back.

Go to File Export as MP3. Fill in the ID3 tags for the
MP3 file in the form that appears. Press OK.
An MP3 file will be created which you can listen to by clicking on it.

Check to see if the headphone set is connected properly.
Check if there is a ‘muting’ button or volume control on the headset.
Go to the ‘Control Panel’ and click on the ‘Sound’ icon. Check the settings for the Playback devices. (if not ask for HELP).
