CEA’s City Guide
SEVILLE
Flourishing with authentic Spanish food, flamenco and a fiery culture, Seville promises adventurous experiences around every city corner. Live like the Sevillanos do and allow
CEA’s Personal City Guide to lead you through the pulsating streets of this Andalusian city.
“My favorite place to hang out in the evenings was a tiny wine and tapas bar on Calle Mateos Gago called La Goleta. They serve amazing orange wine (which is not only unique, but really delicious) and have a plethora of tapas. It’s a small hole in the wall, but
everyone hangs out on the street and mingles after a long day of school or work,”
- Hannah Tangi, Program Associate
“While in Seville, students should visit ‘Las Setas’ (The Mushrooms), officially called Metropol Parasol
in the Plaza de la Encarnación. It’s a gigantic shade feature that is actually held together by glue (a little scary?)! The structure is highly controversial among the locals, but it is a truly interesting site to behold! Very much a contrast of architecture with
the historical city,”
- Paige Sindt, Director of Academic Affairs
“Although a bit of a splurge, students studying abroad in Seville cannot miss out on the thunderous
Flamenco steps of the dancers at Tablao El Arenal. The atmosphere’s energy animates everyone in the room (audiences and performers alike), and the talent and chemistry of the dancers on stage truly is amazing. I don’t think I blinked once the whole performance!
- Maggie Zawalski, Content Coordinator
“Indulge in a picnic by the Rio Guadalquivir while doing homework…and maybe a bottle of tinto
verano! It is a great way to spend an afternoon with Spanish and American friends alike,”
- Eric Schueller, Admissions Supervisor
“You can’t help but be taken aback by the rich culture, beautiful people and charm of Seville. The city invites its visitors to explore the vast maze of alley ways that flow throughout the city. As you weave your way around, every turn leads you to a new adventure – a restaurant with amazing food or a bakery tucked away almost out of
sight of the average passerby. I was glad to have had the opportunity to ‘discover’ Seville for myself!”
- Kathleen Ellwood,
Director of University Relations – East
“Sevilla boasts two soccer teams – FC Sevilla and Real Betis. If you get the chance, attend a game.
The atmosphere at a European soccer game is like nothing here in the United States,”
- Eric Schueller, Admissions Supervisor
