Innovative sites/Resources

A collection of innovative sites that are used within education.

Voicethread

www.voicethread.com Awesome educational tool that allows students to manipulate/draw and comment on pictures or videos. They can Thread together a series of images by video comments, voice comments, written text or by using a phone.

Voki

www.voki.com  Talking avatar, particulally good for MFL but also good to use as a way of getting across Lesson Objectives, with lower ability classes or EAL students.

www.polleverywhere.com  Absolute top notch resource for secondary school students, engaging and current. The web site supplys a phone number and a 4 didgit code to text in answers to a pre set question and then it may be displayed in either real time (watch answers appear) or downloaded.

'i have used this resource extensively, here are a few ways that i feel it can support learning --To show progress (how have you met the lesson objectives) as a plenary.-To give students more say in what and how they would like to learn (text me what you would like to do next lesson from these choices)-Whole class responses to questions.

Wetoku

www.wetoku.com  Talking head/interview site, meet, record and share. Good resource for GCSE students in particular, revision could be created by individual students and shared.

www.posterous.com   Really solid e-learning resource that enables groups to work collabarotively on blogs and store work online. I have used it extensively and have my year 11 class mentor the year 9 and 10 students on their blogs.Brilliantly simple
