TASKIT/C2K is an advanced application-specific test executive that automatesall aspects of test execution, datacollection, and results reporting. Testsuites are defined and stored in termsof TIA-98 and TIA-898 test parameters,not instrument-specific settings,making it simple to correlate parametervalues to TIA-98 or TIA-898 testconditions. TASKIT/C2K translates thetest standards into the appropriateinstrument configurations.

Upon test execution, TASKIT/C2Kautomatically configures all of theinstruments in the system andcoordinates the test execution requiredto evaluate mobile performance.TASKIT/C2K collects and archives allrelevant test conditions and results inan industry-standard MS Accessdatabase. Integrated report generationmakes it easy to extract and display keyperformance metrics from the archiveddata.

The TASKIT/C2K test executiveprovides a structured means toautomatically execute a series of testprocedures. Test campaigns areorganized into a test session,comprised of one or more test suites.Test suites are a collection of individualtests, each designed to evaluate aparticular aspect of the mobile device’sperformance. Any combination of tests,test suites, and test sessions can besaved and recalled, allowing testcampaigns to be quickly set up andexecuted.

Comprehensive Test Results TASKIT/C2K makes it easy to collect andanalyze mobile device test results andover-the-air message logs. All testparameters and results are stored inan MS Access database for post-processing. Storing a complete set oftest data ensures the traceability of testresults. This data includes detailedinformation describing the identity andcharacteristics of the device under test.TASKIT/C2K is equipped with a flexiblereport generation feature that uses thedata to deliver results in a variety ofuser-friendly meaningful formats.

Results formats have been added toTASKIT/C2K that reflect those used byservice providers and test labs tocompare mobile device performance.

Since the data is archived with anindustry standard tool, results can beexported to a host of third party formatssuch as MS Excel, MS Word, CrystalReports and HTML. Automatic PerformanceCharacterization IndentifiesPerformance Breakpoints

Industry standard tests define minimumperformance specifications. A thoroughevaluation of a mobile device requiresgoing beyond these baseline testscenarios to identify performancebreakpoints. This test methodology isused to determine the device’soperating margin or to perform acompetitive evaluation. It is crucial to

characterize the worst-case conditionsthe mobile device can tolerate whilestill meeting a user-definedperformance threshold. Since thesetests involve evaluating the deviceversus adverse radio channelconditions, they are focused onparametric receiver evaluation.TASKIT/C2K enables the user tocharacterize performance breakpointsversus an array of dynamic fadingscenarios, receive signal levels, and co-and adjacent channel interferenceconditions.

TASKIT/C2K utilizes an intelligentsearch algorithm to seek outperformance thresholds. UsingAutomatic PerformanceCharacterization (APC), the userspecifies the end points of the rangeto be evaluated and the correspondingminimum performance criteria of thedevice. APC automatically executesonly the tests necessary to reveal themost severe conditions under whichthe performance threshold is satisfied.

UDM - Provides rapid testconfiguration, test automationand mobile device diagnosticanalysis

The Universal Diagnostic Monitor (UDM)enables rapid test configuration byautomatically interrogating the networksettings of the device under test andsetting the corresponding testparameters. This greatly simplifies testsetup by eliminating the need tomanually enter mobile device settingssuch as NID, SID, Channel Number, andBand Class. UDM also captures the keymobile device identity data such asESN, Model Name, Hardware Version,and Software Version that are used tolabel mobile device test results.

In addition, test procedures in CDGStage 2 require run-time control of themobile device under test. Using theUDM’s powerful software router,TASKIT/C2K automates mobile controlwhile the UDM simultaneously monitorsthe device’s performance, resulting incomplete closed-loop automation.

UDM provides a full-featured mobiledevice diagnostic monitor that can beused to display real-time mobile deviceperformance parameters during testexecution. The access it provides tocritical CDMA physical layermeasurements, such as finger energyand Tx/Rx levels is very valuable fortroubleshooting mobile deviceperformance. UDM also captures andcollects air interface messages foranalysis of call processing behavior.
