1 – Overview This article outlines the procedures for integrating CLARiiON® Disk Library platforms with Veritas Netbackup 5.0. The equipment used in this procedure was 1 MDS 9509 running Fabric OS 3.0 (2a), 1 DL310 running Code Release 2.2 and 1 Windows 2003 Server (SP 1) with 2 QLogic QLA2342 HBAs running Code Release 9.1.2.16 (Driver), 1.47 (BIOS) and 3.0.3.19 (Firmware). The CLARiiON Disk Library is emulating 1 ADIC i2000 Tape Library with 5 Quantum Super DLT1 Tape Drives.

2 – MDS Initial Switch Configuration

2.1 – MDS Configuration Settings

1. Double click on Fabric Manager to launch the application.

2. Type the proper credentials to login.

3. The main page will appear as shown below. All Directors are visible under the Switches tab and a view of the topology is displayed.

2.2 – MDS Zoning Configuration

4. Within the Fabric Manager window, locate the new host entry under the Hosts tab. Identify the new entry based upon know Blade/Port location or World Wide Name.

Next, enter an Enclosure Name and Device Alias. This will make things much easier when zoning since you will not have to know the WWN of the device. Finally, highlight the new entry and it will be identified in the topology map at the lower portion of the screen. Next, go to the Zone and select Edit Local Full Zone Database to start creating zones.

5. Select LAB_Cisco_Fabric_1 to edit the Local Full Zone Database for VSAN 100 on chi-tsg-sw9509-1.

Page 6: CDL with NetBackup Integration v.1 - Dell EMC Education ...education.emc.com/main/common/documents/ks_articles/cdl_netba… · CDL with NetBackup Integration EMC Proven Professional®

6. You will receive a confirmation of the VSAN selected in the previous step.

7. Within the Edit Local Full Zone Database window, right click on Zones and select ‘insert’. The Zones folder is a staging area where zones are created and then applied to the active Zoneset later on.

Page 7: CDL with NetBackup Integration v.1 - Dell EMC Education ...education.emc.com/main/common/documents/ks_articles/cdl_netba… · CDL with NetBackup Integration EMC Proven Professional®

8. Give the zone a meaningful name. Example: chiwinnw1_hba0_dl300 to identify that HBA 0 from chiwinnw1 goes to CLARiiON Disk Library 300.

9. Within the Edit Local Full Zone Database window, select the Initiator (Host HBA WWN) and Target (Storage Port WWN) and drag them from the devices shown in the lower right hand portion of the page to the zone you created in the previous step. Notice that the names are populated in the Name field. This is a result of the work performed in step 4 when the Enclosure Name and Device Alias information was entered.

Page 8: CDL with NetBackup Integration v.1 - Dell EMC Education ...education.emc.com/main/common/documents/ks_articles/cdl_netba… · CDL with NetBackup Integration EMC Proven Professional®

10. Within the Edit Local Full Zone Database window, select the zone you created

and populated in steps 4-9 within the Zones folder and drag it to the zs_test Zoneset under Zonesets. Next, highlight zs_test Zoneset and select Activate from the lower portion of the window.

11. Within the Save Configuration window, checkmark the ‘Save Running to Startup Configuration’ and select Continue Activation. The Save Running to Startup Configuration option is very important because it saves the running configuration to the startup configuration. Without this, the changes would be lost upon reboot or failure of the Directors.
