To Date 3.2 fb-1 3.2 fb-1
FY08 4.5 fb-1 5.0 fb-1
FY09 5.8 fb-1 6.8 fb-1
FY10 7.1 fb-1 8.1 fb-1
•FY08 will be the first year we will NOT double our luminosity
•Trigger design already comfortably handling the instantaneous lum we expect
•Effort will be to refine - a very different position than what we have had to do in the past…
~3.2 fb-1 delivered
~2.7 fb-1 recorded
Data collection
• Sources of inefficiency include:– Trigger dead time and readout ~ 5%
• Intentional - to maximize physics to tape - also studies– Start and end of stores ~5%– Problems (detector, DAQ) ~5%
• Luminosity records:– Highest initial inst. lum
• ~2.92e32 – Integrated lum/week
• 45 pb-1
– Integrated lum/month• 165 pb-1
Great success Stable
~85% recorded since 2003
~80% of delivered lumgoes into analyses
Instantaneous Luminosity Good running most of year: • Doubled delivered and acquired luminosity!• New shift crew arrangements• ISL cooling leak
– 330pb-1 w/ east L00+ISL off
• First 6 months of 2007:– 144pb-1/month delivered– 121pb-1/month acquired– 115pb-1/month w/SVX
• Accel. Performance down in April-June– Took some time after sextapole changes to get back to good
operating point– Resumed high luminosity just before shutdown
6/06-8/07 Luminosity
Efficiency
Delivered 1.67fb-1
Recorded 1.39fb-1 83%
Good Run 1.32fb-1 79%
Good (SVX) 1.27fb-1 76%
Good (ISL/L00) 1.00fb-1 60%

Donatella clearly mentioned about KISTI in International Finance Committee Meeting on November ’08.
Current Collider Experiments
• Tevatron – Fermilab – Currently plan to run 2010 data reduction till 2013
• Belle - Tristan
– run to March 2009 and quit
– Takes > 3 to 4 years for upgrading detector and accelerator if Super-Belle has been approved
– Tough competition with LHCb experiment
• LHC – CERN– At least 1 year delayed due to accident last september– Plan to start Aug 2009(Plan 1) or start early 2010(Plan 2)– Expect to take few years for Detector calibration etc..
Where is the most efficient place for computing contribution
by KISTI for the next few years ?
CDF Korean group• CDF Korean group is the one of the biggest group
– 6 institutions, 17 Ph.Ds and 8 graduate students– Three students in Fermilab performing data analysis– Desirable KISTI provision of computing for domestic and foreigner
• CDF need more computings from KISTI for the next five years– PB data till 2010 and a factor of 4 more for Monte Carlo– CDF management is also expecting a big contribution from KISTI
• KISTI itself to utilize the resource for international collaboration– CDF is stable for the next five years in terms of needs of computing– LHC is already been delayed – SuperBelle takes a time even though it will be approved
• CDF is the best choice for the computing contribution.• close collaboration between KISTI and Korean group to maximize the international contribution for the next five years
Viable Collaborations • The collaborations should be viable through FY2013
• To ensure collaborations are viable in FY2013, we need to start working now to maximize the computing contribution by KISTI
• Need projects for Korean CDF group in touch with KISTI
• It makes large man power utilized for the KISTI tasks
• To keep collaborations viable need KISTI support of CDF University groups for work at the Tevatron beyond 2013
Maximize efficiencies by collaborating between KISTI and CDF-Korean group !
Summary
• For the next five years, TEVATRON experiments need the biggest resource of Computing
• CDF – Korea group has large size of collaboration and KISTI is a member institution
• KISTI resource can be utilized in maximum by contributing CGCC effort by CDF
• More effective collaboration is needed between CDF-Korea member and KISTI people by creating projects
