This protection technology is based on
registering the unique geometry of the
data sectors on optical discs. These
unique geometrical parameters are
defined as alphanumeric code (disc key).

Basic idea

When you open the document or start the program, the system checks if
the disc with the needed label is present in the drive. If the disc is not
available, the system prompts the user to insert it.1
The system measures the geometric parameters of the disc and
compares them to the disc key.
The document or program opens only if the parameters match the disc.
Otherwise, the user sees an error message.

Types of disc key distribution
The disc key is available separately The disc key is embedded in the disc (StarForce Keyless)
The disc key is burned to the front side of the disc, or provided in the
accompanying booklet. The user enters it on the first run.
The disc launches automatically (additional action from the end user is
not required).
