EVENT OVERVIEW

The CCYAA Sports Zone is the only event in the nation that brings together major professional sport organizations operating in Canada into one consolidated interactive exhibit.

Run in conjunction with the “Night It Up!” event hosted at the Markham Civic Centre, CCYAA Sports Zone attracted over 120,000 attendees over the course of 2.5 days last year.

ABOUT CCYAA The Canadian Chinese Youth Athletic Association (CCYAA) is a registered, non-profit organization whose main objectives include promoting sports, fair play, and a sense of community for Chinese youth across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Established in 1995, the CCYAA currently organizes a range of programs and events that service over 2,000 participants annually. These programs include seasonal sport leagues, special events, and programs.

CCYAA also has extensive experience in bringing sports entertainment to the fans around the GTA. With events ranging from press conferences for NBA stars Yao Ming and Jeremy Lin, to a VIP meet & greet with 2011 French Open Champion Li Na, the CCYAA routinely works with the top sports organizations in the world to help engage the community and grow interest in sport. In 2012, the CCYAA partnered with the NBA to deliver NBA3X, a 40,000 sq. ft. travelling basketball roadshow that featured appearances from NBA personalities as well as the Miami Heat's championship trophy.

In order to develop future leaders in the community, the CCYAA also has a Leadership Development Program (LDP) that focuses on providing life skills for youth outside the realm of sports. Using resources and training modules from experts in the field, the members of the LDP put their skills to the test by planning and executing various activities in the community. These include charitable fundraisers for groups such as Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, Raptors Foundation, and United Way.

MODEL USED IN CALCULATING NUMBER OF PATRONS

We took pictures from a wide angle view every hour, counting heads in a 72 sq foot area (in 5 different areas).Are breakdown were as follows:

Tent areas were removed and Sunday area is fine tuned for CCYAA departure.

The turnover rate is researched to be 2.5 hours. We realized that this assumption is quite subjec-tive. An improvement area is to build the length of stay into our surveys.
