Althoughitishardtobelievethatwehavealreadyreachedthemid-yearpoint,Iampleasedtosaythatithasbeenaproductiveyearfortheorganizationandanexcitingoneforourregion.TheUSgovernmenthasheighteneditsinvolvementintheCaribbean&CentralAmericanregionasevidencedbyrecentvisitsfromPresidentBarackObama,VicePresidentJosephBidenandSecretaryofStateJohnKerry.Also,overthepastmonthstherehavebeen

hearingsonCapitolHillthathavefocusedonregionalconcerns,includingenergyandcitizensecurity.ThesetwoareasareapriorityforthepublicandprivatesectorintheCaribbeanandCentralAmericaandarehighonCCAA’sagenda.***Elsewhereinthispublication,youwill indlinkstotherecenthearingsthatwereheldbytheUSInternationalTradeCommission,whichCCAAwaspleasedtohavebeenapartof.Thehearingswerepartofthebi-annualreviewprocessfocusingontheongoingeffectsoftheCBERAlegislation.Thisprocessprovidesanimportantopportunityforbene iciarycountriestoreportonCBERA’simpact,anditalsoallows
