CCA 2017-18 Co -curricular activities refers to activities,programs and learning experiences
that complement ,in some way ,what students are learning in school – i.e
experiences that are connected to or mirror the academic curriculum.
CCA are typically ,but not always defined by their separation from academic
courses.Generally speaking ,Co Curricular Activities are an extension of the
formal learning experiences in a course or academic program, while CO -
Curricular Activities facilitate in the development of various domains of mind
and personality such as intellectual development,emotional
development,social development,moral development and aesthetic
development. Creativity , enthusiasm and energetic ,positive thinking are
some of the facets of personality development and the outcomes of extra
curricular activities.For all round development of the child ,there is a need of
emotional,physical,spiritual and moral development that is complemented
and supplemented by Co- Curricular Activities.These are very important part
and parcel of educational institutions to develop the student ‘s personality as
well as to strengthen the classroom learning.
Co- Curricular Activities have wide horizon to cater to the
cultural,social ,aesthetic development of the child. Co Curricular Activities
are the true and practical experiences received by students. To a greater
extent ,the theoretical knowledge gets strengthened when a relevant
Co- Curricular Activitiy is organized related to the content taught in the
classroom.Intellectual aspects of personality are solely accomplished by class
room, while aesthetic development , character building, spiritual growth,
physical growth ,moral values , creativitry etc.. are supported by CCA. It
helps to develop co- ordination, adjustement,speech fluency, extempore
expressions etc… among students.
IMPORTANCE OF CCA
1. Co-Curricular Activities stimulate playing ,acting
,singing,recitation,speaking and narrating in students.
2. Activities like participation in game debates,music,drama
etc…help in achieving overall functioning of education.
3. It enables the students to express themselves freely through
debates.
4. Games and sports helps chidren to be fit and energetic .
5. Helps to develop the spirit of healthy competition.
6. These activities guide students how to organize and present an
activity,how to develop skills,how to co-operate and co-
ordinate in different situations – all these helps in leadership
qualities.
7. It provides the avenues of socialization ,self identification and
self assessment when the child come in contact with organizers
,fellow participants,teachers.
8. Inculcate the values to respect other’s views and feeling.
9. It makes you perfect in decision making.
10. It develop a sense of belongingness.
11. Co-Curricular Activities develop the values like
physical,psychological,ethical,academic,civic,social,aesthetic,
cultural,recreational and disciplinary values.

ELECTION
A good election encourages democratic decision making and a respected
outcome.A good election is based on principles that ensure it is free and
fair.School elections are an opportunity for learning through practice.It helps the
young minds to have first hand experience of how democratic process is set in
motion. 1.Planning and nomination
2.Get organized –Pre-election preparation.
3.Get informed- Voter education and campaigns
4.Get voting – Election Day
5.Get results – Counting and announcement.
Air Force School Coimbatore recently conducted elections under the supervision
of CCA Co-ordinators.The course of action was as under:
1.During the morning assembly on 3 rd of April ,Election for student leaders
was announced and it was to be held on 7th
April 2017.
2.Canvassing days were fixed for 5th and 6
th of April.. Voters were educated about
the process of voting.
4.On 7th
April ,election process started from 8a.m to 1p.m.Eligible voters casted
their votes.( students from class IV TO X, & STAFF )
5.Counting started at 2 p.m and ended at 4 p.m on the same day and Results were
declared on Monday.(10.4.17)

ASPL BOY: SANJEEV ( 176 OUT OF 562)

HOUSES
The School Houses play an important role in student’s life.The aims of the House
system are to:
Create an atmosphere of loyalty and a sense of belonging to each other,the
House and the School.
Create a sense of community spirit
Encourage all students to participate in a wide range of inter house activities
and to encourage healthy rivalry
Encourage students to develop leadership skills as House Representatives
Stimulate academic and extra curricular achievement by amassing House
points.
For Co-Curricular Activities,the School is divided into four Houses..Each House is
named after prominent Air Force personnel.
1.ARJAN HOUSE named after Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan
Singh,DFC,Padma Vibhushan.
2.KATRE HOUSE named after Air Chief Marshal Lakshman Madhav Katre
,PVSM,AVSM and Bar.
3. SEKHON HOUSE named after Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon,PVC
4.SUBROTO HOUSE named after Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee ,OBE
Each student is assigned a House .House points are awarded throughout the year
for a variety of events and competitions.Students compete in activities including
Sports,Dance ,Music, Drama etc…

Inter House PAINTING and POSTER MAKING
competition.
“Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating . It is either
good or bad.”
An Inter- House Drawing and Painting competition was organized on
21.04.2017(Friday) for classes I and II.The hidden talents of students were
reflected in their drawing.All the students eagerly participated in the
competition.Students proved that they not only excel in academics ,but also shine
in exhibiting their skills by their creative presentation.Students from classes III to
V participated in Poster making ( Design for a cause) competiton. Children came
up with amazing artwork in Poster making.
