The Plot: Easter Monday dawns bloody. Turiddu is found dead in the street- but who should the grieving mother blame? His spurned lover? His married mistress? Her jealous husband? As the village prepares to celebrate Easter, the unholy consequences of forbidden lusts are laid bare.
Santuzza. The young woman of the village, who is seduced by Turiddu. In Santuzza we see escapism from harsh reality of the village everyday life. But her religious guilt turns her to point of madness. Soprano. Low B – Top C

Lucia. Mother of Turiddu. An older, wiser woman and much respected

Alfio. A waggoner. The ‘big achiever’ of the village. He is a show-off, happy

Lola. The fiancée of Turiddu. A woman who enjoys any luxury she can
