Vinnolit produces caustic soda mercury-free only: by the environmentally friendly and climate pro-tecting membrane technology.
Raw materials for the chlor-alkali electrolysis are rock salt, water and electricity:
The membrane process produces 32% caustic soda solution, which is then concentrated to 50%.
Caustic soda is one of the world‘s most widely used industrial chemicals with many applications. Applications include the manufacturing of paper, glass and ceramics, aluminum, viscose fibers, pharmaceuticals, detergents and cleaning pro-ducts, cosmetics and paints. In addition, caustic soda is used as a neutralizing agent, precipitating agent, detergent and food additive.
Our customers are users of caustic soda from a variety of areas, from small businesses to inter-national enterprises, as well as chemical distribu-tors.
The customer takes centre stage at Vinnolit. There-fore, we set high standards on product quality and our service. Our strengths are flexibility, short deli-very times and reliable deliveries. Our business is characterised by long-term partnerships.
Caustic Soda is generated as co-product in the chlor-alkali electrolysis in the production of PVC raw material chlorine. At the sites Gendorf and Knapsack Vinnolit produces up to 430,000 tons of chlorine per year. The corresponding amount of caustic soda (50%) is nearly 950,000 tons.
Caustic soda is shipped in road tankers, rail tank cars, and - from Knapsack - in barges.
Caustic soda is a clear, colourless and slightly viscous liquid. It is miscible with water in all pro-portions. Caustic soda is highly corrosive. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and the inhalation of caustic soda mist and use appropriate protective clothing.
The latest safety data sheet and product specifications are available on our website www.vinnolit.com. You will also find information on the REACH registration there.
