“I just wanted to compliment Mike Mauk on
the putting lesson that he gave me recently.
He was very professional and knowledgeable
but best of all his advice worked! We have
excellent teaching talent in our pro shop and
I would highly recommend Pete, Dan or Mike
to members who are looking to improve their
game”. – Golf Equity Member Jim Cangiano

Fitness Member SpotlightInterview with Evelyn “Chick” Accuso
Q: What group fi tness classes do you take at the Fitness and Wellness Center?
A: I currently take the Kick Butt classes held on Tuesdays & Th ursdays.
Q: How often do you attend classes?
A: I attend every class possible and maybe miss three (3) a year.
Q: What do you most enjoy about attending classes?
A: I enjoy the group classes because of all of the diff erent people who attend. We support each other and have a good time doing it. It forces you to push yourself to do better in class.
Q: Additional thoughts?
A: Laurie’s classes are very professional and yet there is room to have a lot of fun. Laurie means “business” when she works us but she also adds a lot of humor to the workouts. Laurie’s many certifi cates and her levels of education have proven to be very helpful. Laurie keeps up to date with the latest of workout techniques and trends. Her music choice is also very upbeat and keeps us going. Laurie sees to it that the room is kept clean and the temperature at a comfortable level for us. She also makes sure there are plenty of clean towels for our use. Th e one thing that I appreciate most about Laurie is that she recognizes what areas of our bodies need the work most, and she addresses it to our skill levels.
Fitness Member SpotlightRuth Ann Harper
Ruth Ann attends all of the morning group fi tness classes, including Kick Butt, Pilates Flow and Yoga. She enjoys Laurie’s “inspiration” and the positive tone she sets for each class, integrating mind and body always. Ruth Ann explains, “classes are never boring or expected. Laurie creates a challenging routine of exercises and she is very in tune with (members), recognizing our strengths and weaknesses. She encourages us to work within our comfort zones, instructs modifi cations, yet she is not shy in saying “come on you can do this”. Her words of encouragement help to push you from your comfort zone for further benefi ts”.
Th e benefi ts Ruth Ann enjoys by attending group fi tness classes are increased stamina, strength, muscle toning and
weight loss. She adds, “my attitude is better too”.
“Attending Laurie’s Group Fitness Classes is my way of being good to myself for the day.”
– Ruth Ann Harper

SPRING 2013 | The Cat’s Vi ew | 13
While living in Philadelphia, Linda Cannon and her hus-band Bill made frequent trips to their condo at Kelly Greens Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers. In 2011, they came to play the Wildcat Run Golf & Country Club golf course under the reciprocal program. En route to the 17th hole they saw the house that they occupy today. As Linda explains, “the house was love at fi rst sight. We also loved the golf course. My involvement with the tennis program here at Wildcat has been wonderful and has introduced myself and Bill to many new friends. I cannot imagine working with a better t ennis pro than John Jerome. His enthusiasm for the game is infectious. We look forward to many years of happiness here.”
Get Off of the CouchAs a newer member, I began to investigate the men’s
activities off ered by Wildcat Run. So I struck up a con-versation with our tennis pro, John Jerome. He told me about the men’s tennis clinics, what time they were held, what everyone did and invited me to join the group next time they met. I decided to attend a clinic and found them to be enjoyable.
Clinics are attended by members of all skill levels. John serves up a series of warm up strokes to loosen up your muscles, along with some ‘back-handed’ com-ments, which are always received with a volley of laugh-ter by the members. Th en teams are formed depend-ing upon the number of participants in the clinic, 2 on 2, or 3 on 3 games, winners stay in place while losers rotate out. Th e whole clinic takes about an hour and those that wish to stay, after the clinic is over, break up into teams to play doubles. I found this to be an excel-lent way to learn about tennis and meet other members.
So, next time you are thinking about ‘Sitting on the Couch’, get up, get over to the tennis courts and make some new friends.

Membership Spotlight
Jack & Beth OliverJack and Beth Oliver met at Chrysler’s ad agency in Detroit in
1984. Beth was born in Michigan and grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine, heading back to Michigan to attend Michigan State University. Jack grew up in a suburb of Detroit and stayed there after graduating from University of Detroit.
Beth is a marketing and communication professional, meeting and event producer, and has worked with such companies as Hiram Walker and General Motors. Beth’s career has brought some memorable mo-ments, like planning and overseeing several 80th birthday celebrations for Julia Child, with top chefs from across the U.S. As a creative pur-suit, Beth co-designs jewelry under her Sunshine Creations business for sale through area boutiques. Jack’s career allowed him to play in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Golf Tournament, attend the Masters and play Augusta, and compete in the Jeep-sponsored “International Fly Fishing Championships” in Bristol, England. Most recently, Jack was the Chief Marketing Offi cer for a large law fi rm based in Michigan.
Jack and Beth owned a vacation home in Grandezza from 2005-2011 and moved to Florida as residents in January 2010. Th ey want-ed to own a single-family home and play golf which triggered their decision to purchase a home and golf membership in Wildcat Run. Th ey feel that Wildcat Run is the perfect location, with the spectacular Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, large home lots, and the most friendly residents and staff in the area.
“We take full advantage of as many golf events as possible, use the fi tness center and dining facilities. We love the close proximity to downtown Naples, the airport and great shopping and restaurants nearby, plus the beach when grandkids visit”.
Th e Oliver’s knew they were in the right place when they enjoyed their fi rst dinner at the club when they moved in September 2011. Th e dining room and lounge were busy, the service was great and the food was delicious. Th ey have since encouraged friends to join and “they have experienced the same wonderful, hospitable reception”.
Jack and Beth enjoy traveling very much and recently took a two-week trip to Italy and spent 10 days on an Oceania cruise. Th ey also enjoy Glion, a mountain village above Montreaux, Switzerland which is where they became engaged.
