MASS INTENTIONS

This weekend, we are giving you our 2017 Annual Finance Report prepared by the Par-ish Finance Council. In it you will see a re-flection of the blessings and the challenges we face when it comes to running and main-taining our parish in all aspects. Please take a moment to review this analysis. As usual, our expenses come in the same categories as every other household or business: property taxes, utilities, insurance, salaries and benefits, office expenses building & grounds repairs, building maintenance and the archdiocesan assessment (10% of our total Sunday offertory), etc. We hope that you continue to give generous-ly to ensure that we not only cover our oper-ating expenses, but pay off our debt and maintain the church premises in good stand-ing. Please note that the Special Diocesan

Collections are forwarded directly to the Archbishop’s offices. If you are presently not using envelopes, please consider doing so. A tax receipt is issued for those who make use of the envelopes giving you a chance to increase your contributions and support. In the event that you personally don’t want the benefit, you can do it for the benefit of your church. Thank you and God Bless for your ongoing support.. Parish Finance Council

Healing Mass This coming Friday, June 15th, at 7:00pm we have our Healing mass in which we administer the Sacrament of the Sick. This is a good opportuni-ty to bring the elderly and the sick to receive this important Sacrament of Healing. Following the mass we have the devotions to St. Expedito. Everyone is welcome.

ShareLife Living the Gospel by helping youth rebuild their lives. Sarah couldn’t get along with her mother, so she tried living on the streets at age 14. She hitchhiked to Toronto to move in with her cousin, who soon kicked her out. Having no place to go, Sarah decided to try Sancta Ma-ria House. She initially hated the structure and rules. However, the supportive staff won her trust and helped her return to school. At the end of her stay, she restored her relationship with her mother. ShareLife-funded agencies like Sancta Maria House are helping at-risk youth turn their lives around. Please make a sacrificial gift to ShareLife through your par-ish or sharelife.org.

Cradle of Hope Conference Saturday, June 23, 2018 8:30am to 6:00pm. Canada Christian College, 50 Gervais Dr., To-ronto. Presented by the Catholic Charismatic Re-newal (CCRC) of the Archdiocese of Toronto. Mass, adoration, confession, praise & worship and healing procession. Guest speakers include Dr. Mary Healy, Dr. Mark Nimo, Lalith Perera, Fr. Matthias Amuzu, Fr. Ben St. Croix and Bish-op Robert Kasun of the Archdiocese of Toronto. For more information call 647-669-7524, 647-447-1513 or 647-887-5517

Mass intentions to be announced on weekend masses and days of the following week must be requested by Wednes-day of each week. We cannot change dates for mass intentions previously requested. Thank you for your understanding and your co-operation.

June is Seniors' Month Did you know? • There are 900 million persons in the

world over the age of 60 and in Can-ada, there are more person over the age of 65 than children under the age of 15.

• Life expectancy has increased by 30 years over the past 100 years.

• Our potential for spiritual growth increases as we age.

• A new ministry is emerging in churches to support the faith devel-opment of “maturing adults” throughout the multiple transitions that mark the second half of life.

• The maturing adult (50+) population is comprised of three distinct groups: the pre-retired, the active retired and the elders – each group having specific needs.

• Dealing with issues of loss is the central psychological and spiritual task of maturing years.

• Connection – with self, others, crea-tion and God - is our greatest asset the aging process.

How might we support each other in the aging process? How do we assist the ag-ing in our community? “Thank you for your example of love, dedication and wisdom. Continue with

courage to bear witness to these values! Let not your smiles and the beautiful brightness of your eyes be lacking in society”. Pope Francis to Seniors, Octo-ber 15, 2016.

Pasta Night Thank you A sincere thank you to everyone who participated last Saturday on our Pasta Night Fundraiser. It was a great evening spent with our parish community, family and friends. A special thank you to Charles who cooked our pasta and sau-sages and to the following sponsors who contributed towards this event: Panino Cappuccino, Primo Foods, Unico, Gelato Factory, Pizza Nova, Grande Cheese, Rea Foods, Capri Bakery, Pepperoncino Trattoria, No frills, Real Canadian Superstore, and Metro. Thank you to everyone who came out to set up and cleanup, to those who helped serve, to those who helped with selling the raffle tickets, tomato plants, alcohol and to everyone who donated towards the fundraiser your generosity was great-ly appreciated. We made a total of $4740.00

Planning to be a Catholic School Teacher?

It is critical for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario as part of your appli-cation for employment you must pro-vide a letter of recommendation from your Pastor. It is highly recommended to contact the pastor a year in advance, especially in light of the fact that all universities make this matter known to every student at the beginning of the year. Please plan to have a conversation with your pastor early in the process (not the week before you are submitting your application) and you will avoid disa ppointment and stress at the time when applications are to be submitted. The following are required at St. Jude’s: Be (yourself, not your parents or

grandparents) a registered member of the parish using offertory envelopes (at least 1 year before the application).

Be in the parish for participation in Sunday/Saturday mass for a minimum of 12 months prior to approaching the pastor.

Make your request 3 months in ad-vance. Applicant must be the one making the requests.

No request by a relative or a parent will be accepted .

The pastor has to be able to recommend you, and that is only possible if he knows you at the basic level of regular mass attendance. Personal knowledge of the candidate’s faith practice is what the pastor needs to recommend, not your relatives, but yourself, as this is a personal recommendation not a family one.
