PASSAGES ON

STEWARDSHIP

“Now the Lord has spoken who formed me as his servant from

the womb...” Isaiah 49:5

You have to do what God is calling you to do and I have to do

what God is calling me to do. Guess what, each of has been given a different plan! So, stop comparing yourself to others.

Don’t let envy and jealousy enter your life. Be thankful for the gifts

God has given you and generously share them with

others.

Weekly Parish Ministries Update - How we make a difference together from Ric Johnson

We have Many Things to be grateful for this week: For the parishioners who generously donated toward our Christmas poinsettias this year: Thank

you for your stewardship of treasure.

Community Christmas Dinner: Thank you to the many community and parish members who gave of their time and talent to host this year’s holiday dinner tradition. Special thanks to Gloria and Harriet. What a blessing you are!

2016 Parish Contribution Statements: We are finishing the recordkeeping for all 2016 parish contributions. Statements will be mailed out to everyone who gave at least $200 or more to the church this past year, and also to anyone else who requests a statement. Statements will be mailed out before the end of this month. Parking Request: Please do not park in front of the recycling and garbage dumpsters (located on the south side of our parking lot), on any weekday. The Eagle Waste trucks have changed their pick up route and thus their time of picking up and empting our dumpsters now varies. Cars parked in front of the dumpsters may be towed away if they are blocking dumpster access. Thank you for your help with this parking issue. Scrip: Results of the recent survey: We received 15 responses to our parish and school family Scrip program survey. Several themes resulted: 1) Can cards be more available to the school and to parishioners? (response in the Jan 8th bulletin) 2) The need to explain what the Scrip program is, (response in this bulletin) 3) Would it be possible to use credit cards for scrip purchases? 4) It seems like the parish is always fund raising - why? Responses to these and other questions will be in the bulle-tin over the next few weeks: Response #2: Scrip gift card program explanation - Please see the handout enclosed in this bulletin. This past Week, $85 was raised from the scrip gift card program. Thank you for using Scrip for all of your shopping needs and supporting Our Lady of the Lake School at the same time. Stained Glass windows: 217 parishioners have contributed donations of $53,135 toward our $74,000 project. 2016-17 Catholic Services Appeal (CSA): Here are the contributions as of January 5, 2017: Your contributions are very important for this support to continue. Please pray and consider how you can help support this diocesan-wide campaign, and help us finish this year’s campaign. Parish Needs - are you being called to help with this? Contact the parish office at 682-7620 1. Weekend Scrip card program sellers - can you help once a month for 20 minutes after Mass? We

are in need of additional sellers or selling teams. 2. Master Gardener - for planning the new St. Agnes Cemetery Columbarium gardens.

Celebrating Our Success! Two years ago Our Lady of the Lake School joined the Fuel up to play 60 program sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Council-Wisconsin

Milk Marketing Board. This program encourages children to make healthy food choices and play 60 minutes a day. Last year, we received $500 for new recess equipment; soccer goals, balls, jump ropes and such, and funds to purchase healthy snack ideas for “taste testing” and exposing our students to new foods. This year we received $300, which we are putting towards Lacrosse Equipment. We just found out that Our Lady of the Lake School is a winner again! We are the FIRST Touchdown School in the region, our school is receiving an autographed Packers Mini Helmet.

NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE – Nov 2017

Registration is now open for our trip to the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis, Nov 15-19, 2017! We’re going with the Diocese of Superior group. The trip is open to anyone currently in grades 8-11 (those who will be in high school next year). This is a GAME CHANGER for High School students . . . . something that transforms their faith in a positive way and affects them for the rest of their life! NCYC has so much to offer: dynamic speakers, prayer, the Sacraments, concerts, exhibits & shopping, time to foster good friendships, service projects, art, sports, games... There is something for everyone! Not to mention the feeling of being in a stadium with 25,000 other Catholic youth who are full of energy! It's a fantastic way for our teens to see how big the Church is out-side of their hometown! It is also open to adults/parents who come as chaperones! Registrations are due no later than February 15th. $100 deposit due at time of registration. (Total cost per person will be between $550 - $600 BEFORE fundraising - but we hope to fundraise the majority to keep cost minimal for families!) Contact Anna for registration materials or if you have questions. [email protected] 715-682-7620 Ext.115. HOLY GROUNDS Holy Grounds is our “caffeinated” faith group for Juniors and Sen-iors who have already been Confirmed. We meet at the Blue Wave on the Bay on Wednesdays from 6 - 7:15pm. Upcoming meeting dates are January 25, February 8, March 8 and March 22. All youth in grades 11-12 are welcome! Contact Anna for more info.
