CATHODIC PROTECTIONSYSTEMS

SOGEC – CP provides all type of Cathodic Protection Systems. SOGEC is specialized in Oil & Gas Engineering and maintenance. It has ac-quired through almost twenty years of work an extensive profes sional experience in bulk plant upgrading and Refinery maintenance projects. SOGEC was initially launched in 1987 as a division of COSMA to meet the acute need for the repair and maintenance required by the oil and gas industry. In 2001 and based on the vast experience gained by this division’s engineers and technicians, SOGEC successfully gained its in dependent company status. This was later crowned with the ad-dition of the Catholic Protection, the AC interference and mitigation, the NDT; preheating and post weld heat treatment (stress relieving), testing and inspection, leak sealing, and refinery maintenance.

Whether the project is pipeline, tank, offshore or concrete structure, SOGEC will design the right, economical and most efficient cathodic protection system with the minimum required maintenance.SOGEC – CP is an ISO-9001:2008 certified company.

SOGEC CP SERVICES

I – PRE DESIGN SITE SURVEYAn initial survey to identify site conditions relevant to corrosion con-trol e.g. for buried pipes and tank bases etc. The survey would involve investigation of the following factors:• Soil resistivity test and analysis.• Checking whether interference exists.• Pipeline crossings or parallel.• Road crossings.• Overhead HV power lines.• Note any other features that might have a significant effect on the system.The result of this survey in conjunction with information on the struc-ture / plant to be protected provide basicinformation for the design of the corrosion protection system whether to be Sacrificial System or Impressed Current System as well as the type of the anode ground bed to be installed in case of impressed Current System.

II - CP-SYSTEM DESIGNDesign of the Cathodic Protection System includes:1- Survey Report2- Design Calculation3- Bill of Materials4- Detailed Drawings5- Installation Procedure6- Any other information required for the projectAll designs submitted by SOGEC are performed according to client’s highest and professional standards. These standards are applied for calculations, material selection and drafting. During calculations, SOGEC uses advanced and up-to-date softwares and simulation pro-grams to simulate the actual performance of our CP-Systems. Even during construction phases, SOGEC might be called for technical ad-vices that could include providing alternative economical CP-System which still meet highest quality standards.

III - SUPPLY OF MATERIALSOGEC is proud to introduce itself as the only authorized LIDA® anode customer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. LIDA® is a part of group.The advantages of being so are:

SOGEC supplies a wide variety of sacrificial anodes to suit all require-ments such as:1. Magnesium Anodes.2. Zinc Anodes3. Aluminum AnodesThese anodes may be supplied in any shape or configuration to suit application requirements.

SOGEC also supplies various types of Transformer Rectifiers for Im-pressed Current System, which maybe manufactured to client’s speci-fications:1. Air cooled or oil cooled2. Constant voltage, constant current 3. Dual controlled current or voltage4. Indoor, outdoor use5. Automatic potential controlled6. For hazardous, Non-hazardous areas7. Single phase or 3 phase input voltage

IV - INSTALLATIONSOGEC installs or supervises the installation of any cathodic protec-tion systems in any part of the Arabian Gulf Countries. As for the installation itself, SOGEC is confident to install all types of CP-Systems meeting the highest professional standards and client’s

schedules and deadlines. None of SOGEC installations occur without the supervision and approval of our QA/QC Department.

Our installations are complete from supplying the manpower (labor-ers, technicians, engineers, project managers) to supplying the equip-ments (drilling machines, welding machines etc…)

V - TESTING AND COMMISSIONINGUpon the completion of the installation of the cathodic protection sys-tems, SOGEC engineers test and commission the CP System, adjust the output current and voltage to achieve the required level of protection for the structure.

SOGEC then submits a fully detailed report on the performance of the system complete with as-built drawings.

VI - MONITORING OF THE SYSTEMSSOGEC offers a monitoring procedure to maintain control of the pro-tection system with regular inspection so that continuous protection is ensured and maintained.

VII - AC INTERFERENCE & MITIGATIONSOGEC represents in Saudi Arabia ARK Engineering & Technical Ser-vices Inc. which is a leading company for the AC Interference & Miti-gation. Pipelines are often forced to share right-of way corridors with high voltage power lines and other facilities. As a result inductive and conductive electrical interference is an in-creasingly familiar problem.The induced voltages and currents due to

the AC interference can cause a number of safety issues if not handled properly.

The installation of mitigation systems on the pipelines can reduce the interference levels and eliminate safety and operational issues. Through field surveys and investigation, ARK Engineering determines voltage levels and current flow in both the underground structures and overhead electrical networks.

Once the current flow is assessed in detail, an effective mitigation sys-tem can reduce electrical interference to safe levels. This design will be integrated into the client’s construction drawing to aid in implementation of the mitigation system during the installation and testing phase. As part of our comprehensive engineering services, we provide post commissioning testing to ensure that the mitigation sys-tem is functioning as designed and that it is effectively reducing the interference levels in the buried structures.

VIII - CIPS & DCVG SURVEYThe Close Interval Potential Survey (CIPS) and Direct Current Voltage Gradient (DCVG) Survey are two techniques that work together us-ing the pipeline’s Cathodic Protection System to evaluate its protec-tive efficiency and its coating conditions. CIPS technique evaluates the pipeline protection level and may indicate the present coating faults through pipe to soil potential.

DCVG is a coating fault locating technique. The DCVG technique is a method for detecting CathodicProtection current pickup at coating holidays.

Combining the two techniques, with the Transformer Rectifier of the CP System set at On/Off measurements, the method requires

synchronous switching of all applicable DC current sources polarizing the pipeline section under survey. This type of measurement allows determination of the CP effectiveness and detection of insulation leak-ages (coating defect).

COSMA: Established in 1987 to serve Saudi Aramco’s specialized con-struction needs and since then our services have been expanded to many other prestigious clients, such as LUBEREF, SWCC, ACC, SCECO, US Army Corps of Engineers, Yanbu Royal Commission, Modeco and many others. COSMA’s activities include all aspects of general and spe-cific maintenance and light construction services for industrial, com-mercial and governmental projects including refineries and oil sector facilities.

CMD: is KCG’s entry into the field of construction management field, capitalizing on the group’s experience in the construction industry. CMD is qualified by the merit of its structure and mission to address a wide variety of construction problems, and to provide effective so-lutions. In 2006, KCG management decided to diversify the group’s activities, and within that decision, targeting large scale projects. INSPECTECH: Specializes in infrastructures inspection,monitoring,testing, structural appraisal, and management that Provides the Na-tional Administrators, Private Owners, Contractors and Consultants with accurate and meaningful assessment of their structures and stock. Inspectech devotes it self to understanding the risks of deterioration assigned to these infrastructures, study their prediction models and works closely with the owners to organize the inspection, maintenance and repair activities within allowed budgets preventing the structures from becoming in dire need for the replacement. For this purpose we use sophisticated software solutions, inspection, maintenance and monitoring systems to enhance the durability and serviceability at lower cost.

OMC: In line with KCG’s policy to diversify its services in order to cope up with market needs for various technical and engineering works, a new Division OMC (Operation and Maintenance Contracting) has been established within the KCG Group. OMC provides comprehensive services related to Operation and Maintenance in addition to Prop-erty and Facility Management to ensure tremendous benefits to the property & facilities. KAC: Kabbani Architectural Concepts (KAC) was established in January 2007 as a wood division of National Marketing Establishment (Mem-ber of IKK group) to trade whole sale and retail in a variety of wood products and their accessories to meet the high Saudi demand for these products from local importers, traders, manufacturers and con-tractors.

IIC: This is a new division of KCG. IIC is a full-service mechanical sys-tems insulation contractor specialized in industrial projects. It was ini-tially launched in 2001 as a department of SOGEC (Specialized Oil and Gas Engineering Company) to meet the acute need for the Installation and maintenance of insulation and cladding services required by the industry. In 2007 and based on the vast experience gained by this division’s engineers and technicians, IIC successfully gained its inde-pendent division status.

PMD: Pool and Marine Division (PMD) was founded in the year 2002 as a specialized unit of BMC to serve its clients in three fields, the swimming pools, the marine works & the pools covers. PMD also spe-cializes in decorative concrete designs for residential and commercial applications.

In November 2009 this division was transferred to KCG operations due to its scope of work that has increasingly involved in contracting ac-tivities.

ACMS: Airfield Construction and Maintenance Service Division is a Saudi base division that draws on the experience and resources from the Kabbani Construction Group, which is one of the largest civil con-tracting companies in the Gulf. Airfield Construction and Maintenance Services Division has a regional and international reputation in the construction and maintenance for both civilian and military airfields.
