There was a church located next door to asupermarket. Since the church was short onparking spaces and the supermarket wasclosed on Sundays, the church leaders askedthe owner of the supermarket for permissionto park in his lot. The owner’s response was“Fine. You are welcome to use it 51 weeks ayear.” “What about the other week?” thechurch members asked. “That week,” said theowner of the market, “I’ll chain off the lot soyou will always remember that the lot belongsto me, and not to the church.”Today the first reading and the gospel featurea parable about a vineyard. The stories aresimilar, and it is clear in both stories that thevineyard belongs to God, and those who carefor it are expected to use God’s property toproduce a good harvest.Jesus uses many different stories andexamples to remind us of this importanttruth. Everything we have is a blessing and aresponsibility. We are expected to use God’sgifts in a way that honors him. And one daywe will be asked to account for what we havedone with what we have received. Each timewe hear Jesus making this point we alreadyknow how the story will end. But we have toremember those tenants became soaccustomed to being in charge of the vineyardthat they began to think that everythingbelonged to them. Forgetting who the ownerwas led to their downfall.There is no doubt in our mind that thebeautiful newborn baby placed in our arms isa gift from God. But, when that baby won’tstop crying, or gets a little older and will notget along with others, or becomes a teenagerasserting their independence from ourguiding wisdom, God is giving us remindersabout the precious gift he has placed into ourcare. They learn about the patience of Godthrough our patience. They learn about God’sforgiving nature through our willingness toforgive and begin again. They discover thatthey are treasured and loved unconditionallyby God as they experience that spirit ofacceptance surrounding them in their home.A little baby grows up so fast that the time toaccomplish great things for God with them isshort.
Everyone loves a wedding. Two young peoplewho are so much in love promise everything toeach other, in good times and bad, sickness andhealth, for their entire life. Soon enough theworries and struggles of living together andhaving a family and facing the future become apart of daily life. But through it all, God is sendingthem reminders of what a precious gift they areto each other. When wonderful things happen,they have someone special to share the moment.When troubles come, they have a shoulder to cryon. When everything seems dark, there is awonderful ray of light shining in their life –someone who loves them is at their side. Nocouple knows how many years they will be givento work together, so remembering the littlethings that express love every day is important.We work hard and use our talents and we takecare of our needs and those of the ones we love.And because of our opportunities, we take forgranted a level of comfort in our life that peoplein other parts of the world have no hope of everobtaining. We begin to believe that all that wehave is the result of what we do. But, then Godsends us little reminders that all these things aregifts. We see pictures of people who have losteverything in an earthquake or a flood; we see apoor man begging on the street corner; we feelthe call in our heart to tell others about God’swork in our life. There are so many ways we cangive our time, give our money, share our talentsand our willingness to help. And amazingly,however much we give away, God is simply goingto give us more to continue his work!God is in control of everything, even when weforget. He is generous and patient and offers usgentle reminders every day that there are newopportunities coming to us to accomplish greatthings for him. And every good thing we do ispreparing us to be ready for that day when hecalls us home and we give an accounting of whatwe have done. And God will love us so much forwhat we have accomplished for love of him.

U n M e n s a j e d e l R e c t o rHabía una iglesia situada al lado de unsupermercado. Como la iglesia no teniasuficientes espacios de estacionamiento y elsupermercado estaba cerrado los domingos, loslíderes de la iglesia pidieron al propietario delsupermercado permiso para estacionar en sulote. El propietario les dijo, "muy bien. Lespermito utilizarlo 51 semanas al año." Los lideresde la iglesia preguntaron, "¿Qué pasa con la otrasemana?" "Esta semana", dijo el propietario delmercado, "Voy a cerrarlo con cadena para quesiempre recuerden que la propiedad mepertenece a mí, y no a la iglesia".Hoy la primera lectura y el Evangelio tienen unaparábola acerca de un viñedo. Las historias sonsimilares, y es evidente en ambas historias que laviña pertenece a Dios, y a quienes cuidan de ellase espera usar la propiedad de Dios paraproducir una buena cosecha.Jesús usa muchas historias y ejemplos diferentespara recordarnos esta importante verdad. Todo loque tenemos es una bendición y unaresponsabilidad, la esperanza es de que usemoslos dones de Dios de una manera que le honra,un día se nos pedirá cuenta de lo que hemoshecho con lo que hemos recibido. Cada vez queescuchamos a Jesús sobre este punto ya sabemoscómo termina la historia, pero tenemos querecordar que los arrendatarios estaban tanacostumbrados tomar cargo de la viña quecomenzaron a pensar que todo lo les pertenecía yolvidando quien era dueño fue los que los llevo asu perdición.No hay ninguna duda de que el hermoso bebérecién nacido colocado en nuestros brazos es unregalo de Dios. Pero, cuando ese bebé no deja dellorar, o crezca un poco más y no se llevan biencon los demás, o se convierte en un adolescentetratando de imponer su independencia denuestra sabiduría, Dios nos está dando avisosacerca del don precioso que ha puesto a nuestrocuidado. Aprenden acerca de la paciencia de Diosa través de nuestra paciencia, aprenden acerca decomo Dios perdona a través de nuestradisposición a perdonar y empezar de nuevo. Ellosdescubren que son atesorados y amadosincondicionalmente por Dios a través de eseespíritu de aceptación en torno a ellos en su casa,un bebé crece tan rápido que para ellos eltiempo para lograr grandes cosas, para Dios escorto.Todo el mundo ama una boda. Dos jóvenes que
están tan enamorados prometen todo el uno alotro, en tiempos buenos y malos, salud yenfermedad, durante toda su vida. Pronto, laspreocupaciones, las luchas de vivir juntos, tener unafamilia y mirando hacia el futuro, se convierten enparte de la vida diaria. Pero en medio de todo, Diosles está enviando recordatorios del don precioso queson uno al otro. Cuando ocurren cosas maravillosas,tienen a alguien especial para compartir elmomento. Cuando vienen problemas, tienen unhombro para llorar. Cuando todo parece oscuro, hayun maravilloso rayo de luz que brilla en su vida -alguien que los ama está a su lado. Ninguna parejasabe cuántos años tendrán que trabajar juntos, poreso recordando las cosas pequeñas que expresan elamor cada día es importante.Trabajamos duro y utilizamos nuestros talentos ytomamos el cuidado de nuestras necesidades y delas de nuestros seres queridos, y por nuestrasoportunidades, tenemos por entendido un nivel decomodidad en nuestra vida que la gente en otraspartes del mundo no tienen esperanza de alguna díaobtener. Comenzamos a creer que todo lo quetenemos es el resultado de lo que hacemos, pero,entonces Dios nos envía pequeños avisos que todasestas cosas son regalos. Vemos imágenes depersonas que han perdido todo en un terremoto ouna inundación; vemos un hombre pobre pidiendolimosna en la esquina de la calle; sentimos elllamado de nuestro corazón para decirle a otrosacerca de la obra de Dios en nuestra vida. Haymuchas formas en que podemos dar nuestrotiempo, nuestro dinero, compartir nuestros talentosy nuestro deseo de ayudar. Y sorprendentemente,por lo mucho que regalamos, nos va a dar más paracontinuar su trabajo!Dios está en control de todo, incluso cuando se nosolvida. Él es generoso y paciente y nos ofrecerecordatorios cada día que hay nuevasoportunidades que vienen a nosotros para logrargrandes cosas para él. Y cada cosa buena quehacemos es prepararnos para estar listo para esedía, cuando Él nos llama a casa y le damos unrecuento de lo que hemos hecho, y Dios nos amarátanto por lo que hemos logrado por el amor a Él.

Te invitamos de peregrinación a los santuarios de
España y Portugal con el Padre Angel.
Visitaremos las ciudades de Fátima, donde se
