"Bless the Lord, frosts and snows,

sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever... Let the earth bless the Lord;

let it sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. Bless the Lord, mountains and hills,

sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. Bless the Lord, all things that grow on the earth,

sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. Bless the Lord, you springs,

sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. Bless the Lord, seas and rivers,

sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. Bless the Lord, you whales and all creatures

that move in the waters, sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP If you or someone you know has experienced the death of a loved one (a spouse, friend, sibling, parent, child) you may want to consider participating in this sixweeks Bereavement Program. You do not have to be a Catholic, there is no time

limit as to when the person(s) died and there is no cost...all are welcome.

There is no easy way around the pain of losing a loved one. Grief has no rules and no timetables. Understanding the griev-ing process can soothe the doubts that linger. Learn about the

“surprises” of grief and the emotions that affect you physically, mentally and spiritually. In this sixweek series you will learn

about normal grief and hopefully gain a renewed sense of hope. Come and learn, share feelings and ask questions to gather hints

about picking up the pieces after loss. When: Mondays 19th, 26th,

September 2nd, 9th, 16th Where: Immaculate Conception Cathedral in

Ave Maria Hall Time: 5:30 PM

Please call the church and let the receptionist know if you are planning to attend.

I trust and pray that the Holy Spirit is alive and working in and through your lives. I thank you for the way that you represented our Parish with the first Confirmation of 2020; and the humility and respect you had for the Sac-rament. The Most Reverend Glen John Provost was the ordain-ing prelate for the Sacrament of Holy Orders for Reverends Samuel Bond, Joseph Cara-way, Andrew DeRouen and Levi Thompson which was held on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Fa-ther Derouen is from our Ca-thedral Parish family.

Deacon Michael Beverung joined the Fathers in a step closer to the priesthood as he was ordained a transitional deacon.   The Mass, which was by invitation only due to the pan-demic, was streamed live for viewing on youtube.com/lcdiocese and facebook.com/lcdiocese. You can check lcdiocese.org for these new priests’ as-signments. There will be an update in next week’s bulle-tin.   PRAYER FOR PRIESTS Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacra-ments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen. USCCB

Join us! We encourage those who wish to join our Parish to complete a Family Registration form. You can download the form from our website (immaculateconceptioncathedral.com), or call the church office (436-7251) and one will be mailed to you. Active membership for school subsidy, wedding fees, etc. is determined by your registration status, faithful attendance at Mass, and support of our parish through your contributions.

Given the circumstances, Bishop Provost is providing this prayer for the use of the faithful:

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least into my heart. I embrace You as if You are already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. (You may make this Act of Spiritual Communion any-time you need it and as often as you need it.)

ATTENDING MASS DURING THE PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS/REMINDERS/SUGGESTIONS

Per Bishop Provost: “The dispensation from the

obligation to attend Holy Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligations remains in effect. Those experiencing symptoms should seek medical at-tention and remain at home.”

If you are not feeling well, or if someone in your

family is ill, please do not attend Mass. Holy water is provided in small containers at each

entrance. Please limit one per family so that eve-ryone may get one.

To adhere to social distancing, do not sit in the

roped off pews. It is highly recommended, but not mandatory, that

a mask be worn. Please avoid touching the pews or other church

surfaces unnecessarily (ushers/volunteers must thoroughly disinfect after each Mass).

There will be separate communion lines for re-

ceiving in the hand or on the tongue. No singing by the congregation is allowed. No missalettes. The sign of peace is temporarily suspended. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are

not to distribute Communion. Do not use the drinking fountain in the foyer of

the day chapel.

Prayer for Safety in Hurricane Season

O God, Master of this passing world, Hear the hum-ble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quie-tude. You are still the Master of the land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy and overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and ani-mated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heav-enly Jerusalem where stormless eternity awaits us. Amen

+The Most Reverend Maurice Schexnayder 2nd Bishop of Lafayette

Salus Populi Romani Protectress and Health of the Roman People

Prayer against the Coronavirus

O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and cele-bration may return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every dan-ger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
