UPDATED MASS ATTENDANCE PROTOCOLSTHE NEW CDC guidance calls for a mask to, once again, be the solution to slow the spread of COVID. This is for those who are not vaccinated, as well as for those who are vaccinated. Since cases are on the rise in Suf-folk County and Boston is a hotspot, even people who are fully vaccinated are now encouraged to wear masks in-doors. The Cathedral of the Holy Cross is strongly rec-ommending individuals wear a mask while attending Mass or events. Extra masks are available at the entranc-es of the church. Thank you for your cooperation to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

Mass Procedures •There is no need to make a reserva-tion for Mass. •Communion will be distributed during Mass. •The Sign of Peace will be via a bow or wave of the hand. •Offertory Collection will resume at the usual time. •Donations still can be made via on-line giving thru the parish webpage.

Communion Procedures•The precious blood will not be offered to the congrega-tion.•The use of personal hand sanitizer before communion is strongly encouraged. Please wear masks in the communion line - When the priest offers you communion lower your mask, con-sume the Eucharist, and then re-mask as you return to your pew by the side aisles. Utilize Mass dismissal procedures as indicated during departure.

SYNOD ON SYNODALITY

Over the next several years, the Church around the world will be participating in a process called the Synod on Synodality. The Holy Father will be meet-ing with Bishops from across the globe in 2023 to discuss ways of improving the process by which the church on all levels is open to hearing the voices of people from all walks of life.

That process will begin here in Boston now with asking as many people as possible to take a simple survey. The link to the survey can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/aPadVsPFt9

This survey is the first step. Other upcoming steps will be:· An opening Mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, on Saturday, November 27, at 4:30PM. The Mass will be broadcast on CatholicTV, as well being a live event.· Discus-sions in the Presbyteral Council, Archdiocesan Pas-toral Council, and Parish Pastoral Councils and Par-ish Finance Councils.· Focus groups in various ministries, religious communities, and demographic populations across the Archdiocese.· Five region-al sessions that will be open to the public.· The collection of all of the feedback, and its compilation into a ten-page document which will be submitted to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in April of 2022.· A closing liturgy at the Cathedral in late April of 2022.

In this process, we hope to be able to make some contribution to the global conversation on synodali-ty. More importantly, we hope to improve the syn-odality of various local institutions here in the Arch-diocese, as well as of the Archdiocese itself.

Congratulations! The Cathedral of the Holy Cross has surpassed its 2021 Catholic Appeal goal of $60,455. We are truly grateful to the 78 parishion-ers and families that helped us reach our goal. The Catholic Appeal provides critical funding to hun-dreds of pastoral, charitable, and educational pro-grams that impact tens of thousands throughout our Archdiocese. Thank you for responding to Cardinal Seán’s call to witness more clearly the depths of God’s love for each one of us through this im-portant effort.

We pray to the Lord as a parish communitythat these little ones will grow in faith

and as members of the Church, and that they beassisted through the word and the examples

of their parents and godparents. May all Christians express through their daily lives

their devotion to Christ's cross with which they were marked on the day of their Baptism, through the

same Christ our Lord. Amen.

This grand pipe organ is relied upon for each major liturgy including all appearances on Catholic TV and network TV. In the last year, it has been heard by millions of viewers from all over the globe.

But its mechanical needs are deeply pressing with parts dating back to 1875 and electronics to the 1920s!

You can make a tax-deductible gift to the Cathe-dral Organ Restoration Fund online at https://holycrossboston.churchgiving.com/Organ.

OR write a check made out to the “Cathedral of the Holy Cross” with the memo “Organ Restoration Fund,” and mail to 75 Union Park Street, Boston, MA 02118. Thank you for your support.

Donors will be recognized in print and in forms ap-propriate for each level.

Each October the Church in the United States cele-brates Respect Life Month. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.
