Introduction

By formal definition Merger is the combination of two or more things. It might be need base, hostile or due to

functional similarities.

Etilize Inc. is a major player of content industry. Its data content catalogues cover more than 850 categories to full

fill thrust of different customers. Among these categories, few are functionally & physically so diffused to each

other which cause a hindrance to draw a boundary line between products.

To clutch this ambiguity of categories, Category Mergers are performed. This activity is dependent upon the

percentage of similarity between categories, templates & their usage. After an exhaustive research decisions are

taken to map products under a single umbrella of a category but with multiple Product Types.

Objective

My objective is to search whether Processor/Case Fans, Heatsink, Cooling Systems, and Drive Coolers can be

merge into a singular homogeneous category or not? While delving for these categories I find Cooling Stands of

the same specie.

Hypothesis

1- Processor/Case Fans, Heatsink, Cooling Systems, Drive Coolers & Cooling Stands are functionally relative & can

be merged.

Method of Research :

Comparative studies are always convincing for a viewer to canvass between multiple products. To validate the significance of

this merger attribute level comaprison is performed. This comparison involves similarity between templates, attribute and

possibility of the their merger.

Processor/Case Fans :

Fans are most commonly used for air cooling. A computer fan may be

attached to the computer case, or attached to a CPU, GPU,

chipset, PSU, hard drive or PCI slot. Common fan sizes include 40, 60, 80,

92, 120, and 140 mm. Recently, 200mm fans have begun to creep into the

performance market, as well as even larger sizes such as 230 and 240mm.

HeatSink :

HeatSink cooling involves attaching a block of machined or extruded metal

to the part that needs cooling. This block usually has fins and ridges to

increase its surface area. The heat conductivity of metal is much better

than that of air, and it radiates heat better than does the component that it

is protecting.

Cooling Systems:

Cooling system is one that uses water for heat reduction. Similar to a car,

systems for electronics circulate water in a loop, through a cooling radiator,

to all of the heat sources. In personal computers, the hottest devices are

the CPU chip and GPU chip (the processor on the display adapter). Every

second, there are billions, trillions and quadrillions of transistor switching

taking place, which generate a substantial amount of heat.

Drive Coolers:

This category is specifically for Hard Drive Coolers. It varies from heat pipes to

Fans, Heat sinks to Metal cases. This category is an amalgam of all the other

categories mentioned in this document.

Cooling Stands:

Cooling stands are usually used with mobile computing devices such as

Notebooks & Tablet PCs. In other words you can say it’s same as

Processor/Case Fans serves for Desktops & Workstations.

Comparison via Technical Attributes:

Technical attributes are critical part of any template. These attributes portrays the functionality and actual purpose of any

category/product type.

Keeping in mind the relevancy of all mentioned categories on page no.1 following result is obtained. Attributes and their

presence in similar categories authenticate our hypothesis that these all are functionally similar and should be merged.

Question in Reader’s Mind:

Technical header, Should these templates also require a merger”? Answer is surely not. Because Desktop Computers &

Notebooks has different category scope. Both serve as computing devices but one is stationary & other is mobile.

Proposed Suggestion:

A New Category with Cooling peripherals & Systems should be introduced which can hold all genre of cooling

products with different product types e.g. Processor/Case Fans, Heatsink, Cooling Systems, Drive Coolers &

Cooling Stands.
