The National Statistical Institute presents to the users of statistical information Catalogue of Statistical Publications 2011.

The Catalogue of Statistical Publications contains detailed and clearly structured information on publications issued by NSI in 2011, presented in three themes (General Publications, Population and Social Statistics, and Economy), including a title of the issue, short summary of its content, ISSN number, periodicity, type of the issue (printed or electronic), price and publication deadline.

In line with the international practice, the National Statistical Institute provides a relevant electronic version of the printed publications оn CD-ROM and NSI website, as well as publications available on CD-ROM.

The NSI website (http://www.nsi.bg) presents a wide range of up-to-date information about the activity of the NSI and the statistical surveys results.

In case you need more detailed information or information not available in the NSI publications and website, please contact to User��.

The agreed practice of holding regular and special press conferences by the NSI

dissemination of the statistical surveys results.

The users could also use the rich NSI library collection.

2010

The Statistical Yearbook (78th edition) is the main publication of the National Statistical Institute. It provides domestic and international users with compound information about the demographic, social and economic development of Bulgaria for the 2005 - 2009 period.

Information sources are statistical surveys carried out by the NSI and other offices and institutions being bodies of statistics.

The statistical information presents the country as a whole (General Review) and is also given at a regional level (Regional Review) according to the administrative division of Bulgaria (28 districts) and the Classification of the Territorial Units for Statistics in Bulgaria (2 statistical zones and 6 statistical regions).

The Yearbook is designed thematically by chapters and each chapter is preceded by an introductory text with methodological notes.

A chapter containing time series by main indicators about demographic, social and economic development of Bulgaria for the 1990 - 2009 period is presented at the beginning of the General Review.

Along with information about Bulgaria, the Statistical Yearbook also contains an International Review Section with latest data for other countries available at the NSI at the date of preparation of the publication. This data enables users to work outinternational comparative analyses.

Statistics Journal is a specialized scientific-theoretical and applied issue of the National Statistical Institute.

The journal contains information and comments about novelties in statistical theory and practice in Bulgaria and abroad. Special attention is given to the priority problems of the methodology and organization of actual statistical surveys and implementation of new information technologies.

It also presents the experience of other countries and international organizations in area of methodology and organization of statistical surveys.

POPULATION AND SOCIAL STATISTICS


The publication contains data about the demographic, socio-economic and environmental state of Bulgaria by statistical zone, statistical region and by district and municipality in 2010. It is a continuation of the annual NSI electronic publications containing regional data.

The most important indicators have been chosen in order to reveal the specifics of the different territorial units. Tables are standardized to facilitate comparison between the territorial units. The main emphasis is put on statistical zones, statistical regions and districts. Information about municipalities is limited. If data on municipal level are needed, the publications of the 28 Regional Statistical Offices can be used.

The edition contains data from the sample survey of the household budgets in Bulgaria for the 2000 - 2010 period. In 2010 the survey is transformed from monthly to quarterly. Every quarter are surveyed 3 060 households.

The publication presents the results from the survey of households and their members by socio-demographic characteristics, amount of income by sources, amount of expenditure by purpose, consumption of basic foods, calorie contents of consumed basic foods.

The results are presented in groups by the following characteristics - place of residence of the household, size of the household, number of employed persons in the household, number of children in the household, total annual income per person of the household, presence of pensioners in the household, professional and socio-economic status of the head of the household and deciles groups.

The publication contains data on average prices and purchased quantities of main foods and non-foods by households by years for the 2001 - 2010 period and by quarters for 2010 because of change in the methodology of the household budget survey. The information from the household budget survey is used and because of that these average prices differ from the average consumer prices published by the NSI. The purchased quantities foods are computed average per household and the purchased quantities non-food goods - average per 100 households.

There are also data on the purchasing power of households calculated by means of total and monetary income, as well as the changes in the purchased power.

The annual publication includes average annual data from the Labour Force Survey.It is a sample statistical survey among private households which provides detailed annual and quarterly information on the main labour market characteristics as employment, unemployment, inactivity and other of population aged 15 years and over.

The main definitions used in the survey follow the ILO and Eurostat recommendations.

The publication consists of:• Methodological notes;• Average annual data on main indicators for the 2003 - 2010 period;• Data on employment, unemployment and inactivity in 2010, broken down by

sex, age, educational attainment, statistical regions etc.; • Data on main indicators for EU member states.

Data are systematized in two sections:��Continued Editions (newspapers, magazines, bulletins and periodical

collections).

Data on other continued editions (of which: reports, accounts, reference books) are published since 2007.

Data for issued books, pamphlets and newspapers are by title and an annual circulation, and by type and number of appearances is presented of national level, statistical regions and by districts.

The publication contains general data from annual comprehensive statistical surveys, characterizing the activity of educational institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria for the 2006 - 2010 period.

The issue includes data on basic statistical indicators about enrolments and teaching staff in all types and levels of education - pre-primary, general (basic and secondary), vocational and tertiary.

The issue presents data about the educational attainment of the population and the educational institutions.

The published information is systematized in two sections: General Review and Regional Review.

The basic methodological concepts in the field of statistics of education are harmonized with the International Standard Classification of Education, revision 1997 (ISCED ’97).
