Kwayaciiwin Materials

Kwayaciiwin Education Resource Centre is located in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. We are a non-profit incorporated organization funded through INAC.

Our main focus and priority is to provide the First Nations schools in the Sioux Lookout district with high quality classroom materials in the three district languages: Ojibwe, Oji-Cree and Cree, as well as in English. Our materials reflect First Nations culture and ways of life. We believe that it is imperative that First Nations students see themselves in the print media around them, whether it be books, posters, pictures, or any other materials. When children see their language in print, they learn to value it.

Many of our illustrations are the work of Ojibwe artist Glen Keesic and are fully owned and copyrighted by Kwayaciiwin Education Resource Centre.

We have had many requests from other First Nations schools and teachers to make our materials available to them. With this catalogue, we are offering our materials for sale to the public. Please note that our language materials are written in Oji-Cree syllabics for use in our schools. We encourage you to provide us with translations for any of our materials in your language or dialect and we will produce them for you.

Each item that you buy from us allows us to keep providing materials for our schools free of charge. Picture cards, bingo games and other materials are individually priced. Check out our selection of animal hand and finger puppets. Make your language teaching fun!!

Please note: !At this time, Kwayaciiwin materials are free of charge for the First Nations ! ! schools in the Sioux Lookout District.

(with the exception of puppets - see price list for individual prices.)

Please check your school and classrooms for these materials before ordering. Many of these books and other materials have already been sent to your schools.

Due to funding restrictions, copies of some items may be limited.

All orders must be signed by principal. Phone orders will be not be accepted.
