Descriptive Equipment Information The PDEX CP-ESDV01 (items 00714282 & 00714189) are pneumatic Control Panels needed to operate actuators with pneumatic piston and spring return mechanism usually mounted on Emergency Shut-Down Valves (ESD-V). All the components are pneumatic, except the solenoid valve.

This Control Panels have a NEMA 4X enclosure containing instruments and devices which permit the opening or closing of the ESD Valve in Local or Remote modes of operation. The setting of any mode is accomplished by the manipulation of actuating device handles inside the Panels. Remote is the normal mode of operation.

See Fig. 1 in the Panel Layout Section for a detailed indication of the Control Panels components.

The panel has Two (2) inputs to connect:

1. Industrial Instrument Air Supply (4) with any pressure in range between 60 to 200 psig, for pressuring the actuator piston when ESD valve needs to be opened (to close the ESD valve, the actuator piston must be de-pressurized, fail to close).

2. Standard 24VDC low consumption Input (6), for energizing solenoid controlled 3way/2pos Pneumatic Quick Exhaust Solenoid Valve to open ESD valve when REMOTE mode of the panel is selected (to close the ESD valve when REMOTE mode of the panel is selected, the solenoid valve must be de-energized, fail to close)

One (1) output to connect:

1. Industrial Instrument Filtered and Regulated Air Binary OUTPUT/VENT (5), with pressure selectable according to actuator type from 2 to 100 psig (connect directly to actuator piston). This OUTPUT/VENT is used also for venting the pressure from the actuator piston when ESD valve needs to be closed.

Three (3) instruments for Operators:

1. Hand Lever Selector 1: LOCAL / REMOTE Mode.

2. Hand Lever Selector 2: OPEN / CLOSE the actuator.

3. A Pressure Gauge (PI), to measure the pressure in the piston of the actuator (connected at the output pressure side of the panel)

Modes of Operation Local Operation When HAND LEVER SELECTOR: LOCAL / REMOTE is in LOCAL position, the ESD Valve can be operated (open and c lose ) l oca l l y f r om the Con t ro l Pane l . In this position HAND LEVER SELECTOR: OPEN / CLOSE is actually operating the ESD Valve and solenoid valve is "disabled"

Remote Operation When HAND LEVER SELECTOR: LOCAL / REMOTE is in REMOTE position, the ESD Valve can be operated (open and close) from the Main Control Room, by energizing and de-energizing the solenoid valve inside the Control Panel. In this position the solenoid valve is actually operating the ESD Valve and HAND LEVER SELECTOR OPEN / CLOSE is "disabled.
