JENNENS AND BETTRIDGE,In submitting a Catalogue of some few of their productions, take tlieopportunity of g'iving- the following' brief notice of the manufacture,which, they hope, may be of some interest.

Papier Mache is not, as the name would imply, a French invention,but was commenced in Birmingham abovit a century since, and for manyyears confined to Tea Trays only; Jennens and Bettridge have,however, during the last forty years, adapted the material to many newpurposes, so that the variety of articles now made is very considerable,of which the following list will give some idea.

Amongst the many advantag'es the material alfords, may be enume-rated its lightness, combined with strength and durability ; its not being-liable to injury by climate (neither heat nor cold expanding- or con-tracting- it) ; and the facility it affords for producing- forms of g-race andeleg-ance without decrease of strength (being- pasted upon moulds, andwithout joints) : the fine, smooth surface, and splendid polish it bears arealso mucli appreciated.

The Inlaying- of Mother-o' -Pearl was invented and patented byJennens and Bettridge, and has excited universal admiration by itsvaried and superb effects, which are peculiar to this manufacture.

They have also recently patented a process which g-ives the effectof Inlaid Gems, interlaced with fine g-old ornaments; the novelty andexcpiisite brilliancy of which surpass description.

In addition to the great variety of articles of utility and ornament towhich Jennens and Bettridge have applied this material, they alsomanufacture Ornamental Panels for decoration. For Steam-packets thesePanels are in mucli demand, from their cheerfid and pleasing effect, andbeing impervious to the sea air. The " Europa," " Africa," " Asia,"" Hindostan," i'c. were decorated by Jennens and Bettridge, whohave now just completed a series of Panels (the most exquisite ever yetproduced) for the Yacht of His Highness the Pasha of Egypt.

Jennens and Bettridge had the honour of being specially ap-pointed Papier Mache Manufacturers to their Majesties George IV. andWilliam IV., and have had the same honour conferred upon them b}^ herpresent Most Gracious Majesty, and H.R.H. the Prince Albertbywliom their Manufactory has been visited, as also by many ForeignPotentates, and other illustrious personages.

In conclusion, they take this opportunity to invite strangers ofrespectability to visit their works, Avhere the whole process will beexhibited, and introductions afforded to other manufactories of interest.
