LA MOSTRA/THE EXHIBITION

La mostra che abbiamo appena allestito a Casa Là Farm Gallery rende giustizia a tutti

coloro che difendono la creatività personale, in contrapposizione al posto in cui si

trovano. Come ormai sapete noi siamo orgogliosi di essere in culo ai lupi, o più

correttamente, a un'ora da tutto. Questo comunque non ci ha impedito, né ci impedirà, di

esporre artisti di valore e di ricevere un pubblico sempre molto interessato e partecipe.

Un esempio? Di recente ci è capitato con un artista fiorentino molto apprezzato: la sua

mostra da noi ha raccolto 200 visite contro le 2 di una analoga allestita a Siena.

I laria Grin ha 30 anni è di Brescia, spigl iata, piena di al legria e molto cordiale. Ama le sue

opere e non è fissata con lo spettro del: se non vendo fal l isco. A dire i l vero, per sua

stessa ammissione ha un rapporto di amore odio con il distacco da ciò che produce. I l

suo sti le è asciutto, preciso, non si notano ritocchi o imperfezioni; le opere grandi, spesso

su sfondi damascati, ritraggono donne eccentriche e fuori dal tempo. L'impiego di

elementi estranei al la logica convenzionale -si veda ad esempio i l pesce suggeritore, che

tanto ricorda il traduttore di guida galattica per gl i autostoppisti di Douglas Adams- o le

formule chimiche di luciferine (sostanze prodotte anche dalle lucciole) che paiono

casualmente appuntate sul lo sfondo, quando fanno invece da messaggio implicito a

tagl iare l 'aplomb della protagonista (che infatti accoglie una lucciola proprio sul la mano).

Lo sti le ricorda quello del le i l lustrazioni del nord Europa, con colori freddi, pettinature

improbabil i , pose impostate, quasi da statua di cera. La sezione dei ritratti che per

esigenze di spazio abbiamo deciso di scomporre e di al lestire quasi a campionario, per

mostrare i vari momenti e, irrimediabilmente, i conseguenti stati d'animo è più diretta e

meno impegnativa nell 'anal isi . Apprezzo particolarmente Perché mi hai svegliata? I colori

abbondano e quando succede con I laria non è un buon segno. Per sua stessa

ammissione più ce ne sono, specie sul le guance, maggiore è l 'imbarazzo. In questo caso

il blu dei capell i traduce in una dimensione onirica e sofferente, con una mollezza che ci

induce a cercare i primi album dei Velvet Underground (tra tutti i l pezzo Venus in Furs).

C'è un solo uomo tra i soggetti disegnati dal l 'artista e non lo esponiamo, chi vorrà vederlo

potrà recarsi a Brescia contattando direttamente l 'artista.

The exhibition we just outfitted at Casa Là Farm Gallery is a tribute to everyone who

defend his personal creativity against the human and geographical context in which

he operates. As you probably know, we are proud to be in the middle of nowhere, or

better, at one hour by car from everything. This didn't impede us, and it wil l never do,

to exhibit valuable artists and to gain the interest of many visitors who are more and

more captivated. This is a good example: recently we hosted an appreciated

florentine artist; his exhibition in our lost gal lery was visited by circa 200 people,

whereas his solo show in Siena had only 2 visitors. I laria Grin is 30 years old, she's

from Brescia and she's easy, funny and kind. She loves her works and she's not

obsessed with the anxiety to sell them here, now and at any cost. As she confessed

to us, she both loves and hates to be apart from her artworks. Her style is essential ,

precise, we cannot find flaws or adjustment. In her bold paintings, with its damask-l ike

backgrounds, we have eccentric and beyond time ladies, but also elements who have

nothing to do with conventional logic, as for example the prompter fish, so similar to

the Douglas Adams' Babel fish, or the chemical formulas of luciferins (substances

which are also produced by firefl ies), which seem casually put on the background, but

are instead an implicit message which break the unflappable attitude of the depicted

lady (who has a firefly in the hollow of her hand). I laria's style reminds me the one of

Northern Europe il lustration, with its cold colors, crazy hairsti les and frozen

movements, which make the depicted ladies similar to wax statues. The portraits

serie, of which we could exhibit only a l ittle part, is more easy to explain and express

very well the different moments in l ife and the consequent feel ings of portrayed

women. I particularly appreciate the one with the writing Perché mi hai svegliata?

(why did you wake me up?). This piece is very colorful, and speaking about I laria's

work, the more colors, the more troubles. She explained us that the more her girls

have blushed cheeks, the more they are embarassed or suffering. Here the lady's

blue hairs bring us in a dreamy and painful dimension, and her lazyness reminds us

the atmosphere of some songs of Velvet Underground earl ier albums(Venus in furs

among all). I laria's paintings depict only women, but one: we don't have it in our

exhibition, but visitors who want to see it in the flesh can go and visit the artist at her

studio in Brescia.

I laria Grin nasce a Brescia nel 1 985. Si laurea nel 2008 in Pittura al l 'Accademia di

Bell i Arti G.B. Cignarol i a Verona. Dal 2007 ad oggi ha partecipato a numerose

esposizioni col lettive e personali in I tal ia e Spagna.

Attualmente vive e lavora a Brescia.

I laria Grin was born in Brescia in 1 985. He graduated in 2008 in Painting at the Art

Academy G.B. Cignarol i in Verona. From 2007 to nowadays she attended several

solo and group exhibitions in I taly and Spain.

She lives and works in Brescia.
