- SIX CARRO X HÄ? -

Hä? was founded back in 2006. Mat and I spent some time in Mammoth Mountains to shred the park when Mat hurt his back and couldn’t snowboard for six weeks. Back then Mat had dreadlocks and never found a beanie that did fit him well enough. Bored of the American televi-sion program and the hair problem he decided to knit some handmade beanies by himself. The whole crew was stoked with the smooth style and fit. Back in Switzerland a lot of our friends in the Swiss snowboard scene were asking for one of those handmade beanies. That’s how it all star-ted and we never thought that we can go all the way to the point where we’re at right now. Du-ring the last ten years our hä?family grew a lot and people with the same passion joined us on our journey. Sometimes when Mat and I see our childhood heroes – like Fredi K., Nicolas Müller and Heikki Sorsa – shredding with the stuff we designed, Mat and I are smiling at each other and can hardly believe it. We are very proud to be a part of something that we started with our own hands and from what emerged something bigger than just products and labels. Hä? is more than just something that keeps you warm, it be-came a crew of friends with tons of fun times. In winter time we are shredding together the waist deep powder, during summer we are on the hunt for the next perfect surf session. You barely see one of us alone – nowhere. All those moments we spend together create a lot of good thoughts and influence our product lines a lot. Our team riders and other hä?family members, like photo-graphers and designers, are working closely with us. Together we create new styles, which make the nipple deep powder days even more fun. We will continue to make some of the nicest head-wear products out there and are already curious where the journey will take us. Hop in and join us on our trippy journey! – Sebi Bumann

Mike “aemka” Knobel is a graphic designer/illustrator living and working near Zürich, Swit-zerland. His work covers a wide range of media such as print, web, painting, animation, graffiti, tattoo, video, streetwear and outerwear design.

The main illustrating style used by aemka is best described as a symphony of flowing lines, shapes and patterns where everything has its exact place and an intense rate of detail. This manner derives from his early love for black markers in all shapes

and sizes, and how the black ink hit the white paper every time he drew the first line.

La Hache LTD

For this collaboration it didn’t feel right to make yet another board with a big ass logo on the base. Instead, we wanted to take the opportunity to spread a message that we believe in. In recent years Whiteout and West have chosen to swim against the tide, creating our own unique paths in snowboarding. While the «unfollow» mes-

sage might mean different things to different people, one thing is certain: This is a board is for leaders.

Laax local and longtime Whiteout contributor, Aaron Schwartz was a natural choice for this project. His photos and illustrations have been an ongoing theme in our magazine for years and his unique style was the perfect fit for translating our ideas into art.
