JEFF DUNHAMJune 15 at 5pm and 9pm
What do a talking jalapeno on a stick, a beer guzzling, NASCAR loving redneck, and a grumpy, retired Wal-Mart employee have in common? They’re all puppets belonging to the hilarious ventriloquist of many voices and characters, Jeff Dunham. Meet all of Jeff’s friends Sunday, June 15, when he performs TWO special Father’s Day shows at Inn of the Mountain Gods. Perhaps the most famous of Jeff’s furry friends is Peanut, a hyperactive, purple puppet known as the “bad kid” of the bunch due to his pranks on Jose Ja-lapeno and even Jeff himself.
A ventriloquist since the age of 8, Jeff Dunham has been voted “Best Comic,” “Comedian of the Year,” and “Ven-triloquist of the Year” by various organizations many times over. He holds the record for the most-watched stand-up performance on Comedy Central, and with characters like Achmed the Dead Terrorist, has become a viral YouTube sensation. Fans have two special shows to choose from, one at 5 pm and one at 9 pm. For more information, visit www.innofthemountaingods.com

VOZ DE MANDOJune 21 at 8pm
Though they have only been a band for a few short years, Mexican group Voz de Mando broke through to main-stream almost immediately with the success of their hit single “Comandos del M.P. (500 Balazos)” in 2010. As their success continues, the band now has hits on 16 charts, including Top Latin Albums and Hot Latin Songs. Peaking at No. 4, some of these Hot Latin Songs include “Y Ahora Resulta,” “Muchacho de Campo,” and “Versos De Mi Alma.” The combination of ac-cordion, bajosexto, tuba, and drums will make for the perfect night of fun, filled with Latin dancing and sing-a-longs.

The Tribal Gaming Industry in New Mexico is an important economic engine, providing entertainment options and job opportunities
throughout the state. As such, gaming leadership has always taken proactive steps to combat com-pulsive gambling, offering information on respon-sible gaming as well as professional counseling to those seeking assistance.
Sandia Resort & Casino is proud to lead the fight to face compulsive gambling issues HEAD ON. While understanding that a vast majority of
people can enjoy the entertainment that casinos, racetracks, the lottery, and other gaming venues of-fer, we are aware that a small percentage may not be able to gamble in a responsible manner. Sandia Resort & Casino strives to make a positive differ-ence in the community by offering the following proactive, free-of-charge responsible gaming ser-vices:
• Employs a dedicated Responsible Gaming Co-ordinator to answer questions and, if needed, direct compulsive gamblers or their family members to a number of different organizations that can provide assistance.
Sandia Resort & Casino Responsible Gaming Coordinator:
505-798-7415
• Trains all employees in responsible gaming policies.
• Offers a self-exclusion program for those in need.
• Donates funds to organizations that excel in providing counseling, intervention, or other ser-vices for compulsive gamblers and their families.
Through these donations, we ensure those services are free of cost to the client.
• Is the primary funder of various programs, in-cluding the Evolution Group’s Integrity Recovery House, a successful gambling–specific recovery living program that incorporates compulsive gam-bling treatment into their services.
• Advertises in various media outlets, thereby in-forming a diverse population of listeners and read-ers about the available treatment options for com-pulsive gambling.
• Actively participates in several public health fairs in New Mexico to provide valuable educa-tional material and the resource options for free compulsive gambling treatment.

I think it’s human nature. You see a guy running the pro shop at a municipal golf course and right away you think this guy has got to be a scratch golfer. You find out later the guy couldn’t hit the ball off the tee with a snow shovel. But boy, can he sell t-shirts and hid-eous golf slacks.
What I’m saying here is if you see a guy, or gal, in a casino wear-ing a name badge—meaning they work for the joint—don’t assume that person is a Merlin in the won-drous world of casino gambling.
These people can show you, or tell you, the rules of certain casino games, and how to play the game, but as a player—a shooter? Forget it.
So, after almost 20 years since our high desert Land of Enchant-ment legalized this biz, a lot of folks assume that I am an expert at the array of gaming propositions
available. Sorry. Close but no ci-gar.
I am, however, pretty cool in finding the troops among us who are close to black belts in games of chance. So, please think of me as a conduit. I pass along what is gospel in this trade. Just what is the best move “to do” and what is the move to “not do.”
Like in blackjack: Do not play third base if you are not half-skilled in playing the game by the numbers. If you still believe the secret to winning at blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible with-out going over that number — you will not only have to get off the bus, you’ll need get under it.
The first rule of blackjack is: make the dealer go bust. And playing third base is the most im-portant spot to put the dealer in harm’s way.
First, let’s make sure you know
where third base is located: It is the seat right next to the dealer’s right, the last player to accept or deny a card before the dealer makes her or his move. The other players at the table are depending on the third base person (being politically correct) to make decisions placing the dealer in a vat of doo-doo.
If you now realize the utter im-portance of the seat, or you are indecisive concerning the respon-sibilities of the post, pass on occu-pying it. Move to the center of the table, out of the spotlight, away from the heat. Let that player who knows where the buck stops—someone who has earned their stripes.
Let our third baseman stand when their cards total 12 and the dealer shows a 2, 3, 4, 5, or a 6. And do the same when our player has 13, 14, 15, or 16—stand on the dealer’s Deuce through Six. Let the dealer draw cards that will push his or her total over the wall— 21 plus, yeah.
The other players at the table will admire, and respect, your discipline, your will. Will it work every time? Of course not—but it works often enough to make it the right play whenever a player is dealt what is known as “a stiff hand,” (any total from 12 to 16), and the dealer is showing the 2 through 6.
Oh, don’t forget to join me, and be part of my gang on Twitter. My address @swcasino.

When Detroit native Ted Nugent first burst onto the hard rock music scene in the late 1960s as lead guitarist for The Amboy Dukes, it was clear he was going places. With his loud and proud persona, powerful voice, and blistering guitar licks, he became known as the Motor City Madman, cementing that reputation with a solo ca-reer that produced some of the most rollicking anthems
of the genre. In 1989 Nugent formed
the super group Damn Yan-kees with former members of Night Ranger and Styx. A year later their album by the same name went multi-plat-inum in the U.S., no doubt in large part to the smash hit power ballad “High Enough.”
To date, Nugent has released more than 34 albums, has sold a total of 30 million records, and still tours regularly. Songs like “Catch Scratch Fever,” “Free For All,” “Stranglehold,” and “Wango Tango” remain staples of hard rock music sta-tions around the world.
Yet in spite of this wild man repu-tation, Nugent, who lives on a ranch in his home state of Michigan, has remained refreshingly immune to the excesses of the typical rock and roll lifestyle. Vigilantly anti-drug and anti-alcohol, he is a devoted father of eight children and has been married to his second wife, Shemane Deziel, for 25 years. He has contributed a variety of articles to national magazines and newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, and is the author of several books, most notably the bestseller God, Guns & Rock and Roll. He is also a controversial figure in conservative politics, a proud member of the NRA who makes the compelling argument that hunters are actually one of our na-tion’s best environmental stewards.
Agree or disagree, one thing is cer-tain: Ted Nugent remains a fixture on the hard rock music scene, still able to draw crowds and guaranteed to get you pumping your fists and banging your head. Come experience rock leg-end Ted Nugent at Camel Rock Casino on Friday, July 4 at 8pm. Doors open at 7pm.

Here’s a blackjack situation for you to solve. I’ll let you think about it, and I’ll give you the answer, with profitable information you can use, in the next issue of Casino Entertainer.
Take a look at the situation here. Obviously, this round is over. However, smart players make cutting edge betting decisions from the correct analysis of the cards that have been dealt since the last shuffle.
In fact, using my revolutionary Precision Bet-
ting Method (introduced in the Third Edition of Cutting Edge Blackjack), you can make a highly accurate assessment of your odds of winning in the next round by analyzing these cards, and, with that information, then make highly precise bets. (Ideally, your bet should accurately reflect your odds of winning in the next round—but the Old School blackjack methods of basic strategy and card counting cannot give you that crucial information.)
So here is what I’d like you to do: look at this mix of cards carefully and decide how you will bet going into the next round. Does anything about the mix alarm you? I especial-ly want the Hi-Lo card counters to think long and hard about this one. For the Hi-Lo count here is zero. (Hi-Lo counters count 2s through 6s as plus-one as they are dealt, and 10s and aces as minus-one as they are dealt.)
A count of zero, to a Hi-Lo counter, is sup-posed to mean the cards are balanced and therefore the bet should not be raised beyond the lowest level—the lowest bet you’re mak-ing. But aces are overdue, are they not? Don’t the Old Schoolers tell you to raise your bet when aces are due?
Aha! There’s a conflict here, for Hi-Lo play-
ers. Obviously, that system is not giving you pre-cise information—and it’s giving you conflicting information. For a zero count tells you the cards are balanced. But they’re not, are they? And the fact that no aces were dealt was not revealed by the Hi-Lo system, was it?
Again I ask: How should you bet going into the next round?
I’ll reveal the startling answer in the July issue of Casino Entertainer.

On the evening of Satur-day, May 3, Twin Arrows Ca-sino Resort, located in Flag-staff, Arizona, celebrated its first-year anniversary—and the addition of 110 new rooms—with a spectacular fireworks show for the com-munity. The expansion of the five-story resort will allow Twin Arrows to host even larger conferences and trade
shows. Guests to the grand opening earlier that same day were treated to a VIP ribbon-cutting ceremony, Navajo dances, flute solos, and tours of the facilities.
Navajo Gaming CEO Der-rick Watchman said of the event, “I’m humbled and proud to be standing here, just one year after we opened Twin Arrows.”

NEW MEXICO MUSIC
www.NMmusicdistributors.com
popular Tejano artist Dave Gomez burst onto
the New Mexico music scene 18 years ago. Born and raised in southern New Mexico, he toured and played with many top New Mexican recording artists before debuting his breakout solo CD, Loco Enamorado in 2013. From the foot-stomping hard core Conjunto cut “Cruz De Madera” to the heartwarming acoustic ballad “Que Voy hacer” to the duet with fellow New Mexican Matthew Martinez, titled “Oiga Compadre,” the work is an emotion-filled musical journey.
The title song, written by Gomez, has won the prestigious Los 15 Grandes De Nuevo Mexico award, given out annually by the NM Latin Music academy, and was also recently nominated for Original song of the Year and songwriter of the Year by the NM hispano Music association.
Gomez tours regularly, so is sure to play somewhere near you soon. In the meantime, his CD is available at New Mexico Music racks at stores throughout New Mexico, southern Colorado, and Texas.

This question from a reader is compelling evidence that slot players are eager to know basic information about the games they play:
Horseshoe Hammond [Indiana] has an island of 12 progressive Triple Double Star slot machines that all have the same amount forthe jackpot. Can you tell me if each machine has its own randomaccess method for payouts, or are your chances of winningsomething the same as if you went to any one of the machines?
I posed that question to the folks in a position to know at The Shoe and received the following response:
These games are what we call a linked progressive jackpot. All the games underneath the jackpot are the same theme so they have the same odds to hit the top award. What we do is add a percentage of the hold of the games to the top award so that with every handle pull by a guest, the award incrementsor progresses up.
Furthermore, I learned, to win the jackpot someone has to hit the top award by betting max bet on any of the games connected to the jackpot. The games are inde-pendent games, but the odds to the top award on each game are the same. Everyone participates in the progressive and everyone has the same odds of winning—very similar to the lottery, where we all buy tickets and contribute to the pot but where my ticket is independent from your ticket.
Using strategy implies that you are seeking to gain an advantage that hopefully will lead to victory. If that’s the case, there is no strategy for playing the slots.
Slot machines are programmed to guarantee a profit for the casino owners. There’s no way around it and there’s no way to beat them. It’s all about the math.
The vast majority of the money a slot machine takes in over the course of tens of thousands of plays is returned to gamblers as a collective group in the form of win-nings. The only way for individual gamblers to win, however, is to have good fortune on their side.
Every slot comes with information that details the math about that particular game, but those so-called PAR sheets are made available by the manufacturers only to ca-sino operators.
Expanding further on our research about slots available on International Game Technology’s Website (www.igt.com), consider this:
Take a traditional three-reel spinning slot with a single pay line. If each reel has 32 stops (positions at which the reel can stop), you multiply 32 x 32 x 32 to determine the reel cycle, or total number of possible combinations you can get, in this case 32,768.
Of those 32,768 combinations, 3,277 of them are programmed to be winners of varying amounts. The hit frequency of this machine, therefore, would be 3,277 di-vided by 32,768, or 10 percent, meaning that the mathematical probability of win-ning something is once in every 10 spins.
The math from machine to machine varies, depending upon the number of reels, the number of stops, and the number of times the jackpot symbol appears on each reel.
ARE ALL MACHINES IN A PROGRESSIVE CREATED EQUAL?
Ben Affleck may be one of the most successful writers, directors, and actors working in Hollywood today, but that doesn’t make him immune to the rules of blackjack play. The celebrity gossip site TMZ first broke the news that Affleck was banned from playing blackjack at the Hard Rock Casino Hollywood during a visit to Sin City on April 29 with his wife, actress Jennifer Garner. While it is unclear what, exactly, prompted security to boot the Argo actor from the tables, ru-mor has it he was counting cards. While not technically illegal, count-ing cards is considered a no-no by casino management, who regularly pull players whom they catch work-ing their mathematical magic. A
source that spoke with TMZ reports that security told Affleck, “You’re too good at the game.” He was al-lowed, however, to play elsewhere in the establishment, and Hard Rock management even supplied a car for him and Jennifer to return to their hotel.

The sooth-ing rays of the new moon on the 27th get the party going—you may even have plans to head back to your old stomping ground. Love, fun, and financial ventures are defi-nitely in the air.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18)The planet Mercury retrograde is in a fa-vorable air sign, clearing up any misunder-standings from the past. It’s time to right the wrongs and finally get justice. You will feel confident and productive at this time. Relax and take a short vacation.
PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20)You may feel very intuitive, especially dur-ing the full moon on Friday the 13th. Try to lay low socially so you don’t get caught up in other people’s problems. Look to the 17th for a major creative change. Expect to be start-ing up new classes.
