About OmringOmring is a foundation that helps care-dependent people. The help is currently provided in various forms of specialist care and treatment, home care, and intensive care and support in 25 diff erent locations in West Friesland and the northernmost part of North Holland.
Omring has great corporate social responsibility in several areas. In addition to contributing to the provision of a good healthcare system for the elderly and the chronically ill in particular, Omring is also responsible for the health of its staff and for making its locations and construction projects sustainable. In 2013, Omring adopted a concrete plan to help prevent excess energy consumption by paying more attention to the latest developments of climate control in recently completed locations.

Inspiring and innovative in energy savings
Our challengeThese energy targets led Omring to Sprinx’s Energy Management. In May 2013, Sprinx entered into a fi ve-year performance contract with Stichting Omring for one of its residential care facilities: Lindendael in Hoorn. The contract stipulates that Sprinx guarantees that it will have reduced energy consumption by at least 20% by 2018.
The investment plan is being implemented without Omring making any monetary investments. Sprinx fi nances all investments and extracts its return from the savings achieved, so there are no risks for Omring.
Optimising climate controlSprinx aims to achieve their goal by implementing various savings measures: the HVAC installations on site will be optimised through the intelligent management of central heating boilers, combined heat and power systems, boilers and air handling systems. As a result, climate control will be determined based on a building’s actual demand, so

“We were looking for a party who was able to perform all the tasks related to energy saving on our behalf and who
could make sure we had nothing to worry about. This is how we ended up deciding to use Sprinx’ Energy Management
service - a unique service that we couldn’t fi nd with any other organisation. They created an investment plan for us, which
they will gradually implement for us over a period of fi ve years. Their expertise was verifi ed once again by the fact
that we don’t have to worry about a thing. Sprinx guarantees a 20% reduction in energy consumption and there are no
fi nancial risks for us. It was exactly what we were looking for!”

energy wastage will be a thing of the past. Furthermore, the investment plan that Sprinx has created for Omring will be revised every year so that any new techniques can be adopted. The measures will be implemented one at a time.
In 2013 and 2014, an actual saving of 14% in total energy consumption has been achieved. This percentage naturally takes degree day adjustments into account. It is expected that the savings will be even greater over the coming year, as Sprinx plans on investing in even more energy-saving measures.
Sprinx’s success has led to our unique Energy Management service being implemented at four of Omring’s sites.
NB: Because the gas consumption is weather dependent, Sprinx adjusts the savings based on the average outdoor temperature during a specifi c period, otherwise known as degree days. This provides a realistic view of the savings eff ectively achieved.
