HIGH-PERFORMANCE EXECUTIVE CONFERENCING
CHALLENGEThe University of Kansas Hospital, a leading regional medical center with a roadmap for facility
expansion, approached AVI Systems for a solution to its critical meeting and communications
requirements.
The executive staff had an aged off-site conference room. The older equipment caused meeting
delays and inconvenienced participants on a regular basis.
The hospital needed an on-site executive conference room that worked and worked efficiently.
A decision was made to construct a room above an open area through a structure of steel beams
and concrete construction. Essentially, this created a second floor expansion for the existing room.
The first stages of the bringing this conference room into reality were in motion. It wouldn’t be long
before AVI brought technology into the picture.

PROVEN PROCESS
SOLUTIONThrough careful discovery of requirements, AVI
developed several design options and arrived at
the optimal system for the room.
Front projection was not the most capable
solution, so began the search for rear screen
capability with a very shallow form factor and
extreme picture performance. System control
from various points around the room was
required for presentation assistance during
meetings.
The system provides a large, high-resolution
image display with windowing capability for
various sources. The shallow depth allowed
for a kitchen and preparation area behind the
display wall with a hidden door for access to
the conference room. The solution delivers
high performance source displays, video
conferencing with views from various camera
perspectives, leveraging high quality audio.
The focal point of the room is a two-by-four
BARCO LED wall with front access for support.
The system was housed in a recessed rack to
the left of the display for easy system access.
Directly in front of this is a well-appointed
podium with interactive capability, system
control, presentation status display and wireless
keyboard and mouse. The table has embedded
microphones for audio and video conferencing,
along with pop-up input boxes for various input
capabilities for the system.
The finished system creates a very impressive
display and configuration capability, which
meets the demands of the most complex
audiovisual support for executive-level meetings.
