PLAN ANALYSISUpon examining The Mariachi Plaza and The ENV Plaza in a plan view a series of similarities were unraveled despite the sites diering drastically in context specicity. The Mariachi plaza is a historic gateway to the city of Boyle Heights and is composed in a fashion to connect to the neighberhood with Downtown Los Angeles. The Plaza consists of alot of open space and its form and function draws people from all over the city to experience a resemblance of traditional plaza one may experience in Mexico. The ENV Plaza is a Flat site that ultimately seems empty. In plan view the voids are depicted and read as potential space for a future project. The ENV Plaza is a common crossground for those making their way into the main campus or the Enviromental Design Building. Its open space allows is to be a uid space in navigation and free oowing uxiative site

Site Topography

The topography in the plaza is fairly flat with a slight slope that is leading towards the center of the plaza. However, on the west side of the plaza the topography starts to slope down and on the east side it keeps a consistent grade level.

When walking around the Mariachi Plaza some of the things that stood out was the octogan structure and the entrance to the underground metro Gokd Line. Around these structures was series of light post which were laid out in a circular shape. Along the edges is where most of the plant massing was found.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

With the image on the left side of the Page we can see a view from one end of the plaza towards what would be considered the industrial side or what we would consider the city but on the image above we can see a whole nother perspective. We can see the residential areas with more in the landscape. But there is one place. There is one place where people can simply unite and that is the Mariachi Plaza. Right in the middle of all the chaos there is this plaza that with its unique flow and circulation can bring people in.

Characteristics that define this site are seen throughout the entire location. standing on one end you can see what would otherwise be known as the residential area but on the other side you are able to see the busy area of Los Angeles. Its unique location allows people to feel connected to the busy life of the city but at the same time having a sense of home and confort nearby. The Mariachi Plaza has a unique layout with a slight slope we can distin-guish that the land is not flat but has a slight angle for water filtration due to the fact that it has a metro station underground. The textures on the surface are all leading towards the stage which is right behind the exit/entrance of the train station.stage which is right behind the exit/entrance of the train station.

Through ow and movement in Boyle Heights, it engages the people and other social interactions to circulate in the orientation developed by the site. As shown in the example provided, the context indicates in the way people were seen soically engaged between the Mariachi Plaza and surrounding streets. The form and ow through the plaza indicated ceratin characterisic values that endure the public in contact with the surrounding area. Through the process it highlights main streets, orientation of pathways, and sense of direction to the connecting cities. Many avaiable intersection cross help guide to view the eye in many way as the ow of the site itself engages you to all surroundings that are incorporated.

The connectivity between the Mariachi Plaza and Env Plaza from Cal Poly Pomona indicate similar aspects on how people engage through the process of the designed incorporation. Its unique feature and accessible pathways establish many entrances and exits for proper movement with controlled trac . These aspects have been shown in the process planning indicated through the multi-use directional uses from surrounding areas.

Systemize Through Infrastructure

Within the landsccape there are many elements to be captured and observed. During the process of creating and spatializing units, it must be taken in consideration the objects that are embedded into the site. The system we use today vary to represent the dimension and density throughout the area working with aroind the open spatial qualities. Buildings, plantations, streets and other elements are technical characterisics used to dene the space given and able to structure and adjust other components within the open space. All these componets in the space provide are esstential fundamental services provided for the wide range of creativity. Throughout the Mariachi Plaza and the ENV Plaza many of the componets, such like; building, streets, and roads, are aspects that contributed for the wide range of openness for the both plazas. The buildings are shaped in a way that reect the path and centeralization for the sustainable conditions that happen to adapt the open space. Technique is a big role that played into the creation and adaptation through the space surrounding the artical elements. It shapes the way a path a made, the way a plantation is made, and the engage-ment towards the people. With these indications of infrastructure, it must conclude that the components provided will all represent and interact within one another to provide a space as whole. To create the engagement between edge to edge and not loose focus within the landscape itself.
